    Abstract: An integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node may establish a first connection with a first base station, establish a second connection with a second base station, and receive an indication, from the first base station or the second base station, that indicates at least one of the first base station or the second base station is to serve as an IAB donor for the IAB node. The first base station may indicate to the second base station, based on the second connection being established with the IAB node, that at least one of a first base station or the second base station is to serve as an IAB donor for the IAB node.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a lower layer split for a radio access network (RAN) node. In some examples, the number of tiers for the user plane path may be reduced from three to two, which may include redistribution of functionality of a central unit user plane (CU-UP) between two network entities. In some examples, a first network entity of the two network entities may be configured to receive, from a second network entity of the two network entities, a first user plane protocol data unit (UP-PDU) associated with a user plane (UP) protocol session. In some examples, the first UP-PDU includes a first identifier configured to identify the tunnel, a second identifier configured to identify the first flow of UP-PDUs, a third identifier configured to identify the first UP-PDU within the first flow of UP-PDUs, and a first data for transmission to a user equipment (UE).

    Abstract: Method and apparatus to rewrite BAP headers in IAB networks. The apparatus receives, from a second base station, a routing configuration indicating a mapping between a first routing ID and a second routing ID. The apparatus receives a packet with a packet header indicating the first routing ID. The apparatus determines the second routing ID based on the routing configuration mapping the first routing ID in the packet header to the second routing ID. The apparatus modifies, based on a determination of the second routing ID, the packet header to replace the first routing ID with the second routing ID. The apparatus transmits the packet based on the second routing ID.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a central unit (CU) and a distributed unit (DU) to communicate information for a network energy savings (NES) related conditional handover (CHO). For example, the CU, which may configure one or more user equipments (UEs) for the CHO, may indicate which UEs are configured to the DU, which may serve the UEs via Layer-1 (L1) signaling. The CU may further indicate which of the configured UEs are to perform the NES related CHO, which may be determined according to measurement reports from the configured UEs. In some examples, the DU may trigger the NES related CHO for UEs associated with measurement reports that satisfy an NES-specific threshold value, which may support the CU and the DU transitioning to the NES mode.
