Abstract: There are provided measures for enabling/realizing enabling/realizing beam failure detection with different indication intervals, e.g. beam failure detection in a higher layer such as a MAC entity of a user equipment element or base station element. Such measures exemplarily comprise that a beam failure detection procedure is performed on the basis of beam failure instance indications from a lower layer using abeam failure detection timer, and application of the beam failure detection timer in the beam failure detection procedure is controlled in view of indication intervals which are applicable for the beam failure instance indications from the lower layer in the beam failure detection procedure.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to random access in a communication system. A first device receives a criterion to select a random access type for performing random access to a second device. The first device further determines whether the first device is allocated a contention-free random access resource for a certain random access type, and then performs the random access to the second device based on the determination and conditionally based on the criterion. As such, in the case where contention-free random access resource has been allocated for a certain random access type, the device can conditionally apply the criterion for selection of the random access type and can thus perform random access with improved efficiency.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products where a user equipment in a wireless communications network determines a measure of signal quality for a restricted set of beam recovery candidates, compares the measure of signal quality of contention free random access candidates reference signal in the restricted set or a subset of contention free random access candidates to a signal quality based recovery threshold, and selects the at least one candidate signal with signal quality above that threshold from a candidate beam reference signal list; where the user equipment measures a reference signal received power for contention free random access candidate beam, selects candidates above a reference signal received power threshold, determines signal quality for the selected contention free random access candidates above that threshold, and selects one candidate in response to multiple contention free random access candidates being above that threshold or the one with highest measure of signal quality.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and software for configured grant operation are provided. The first apparatus comprises at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program codes; the at least one memory and the computer program codes are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the device at least to transmit a transport block of a HARQ process on preconfigured resources for an uplink transmission to a second apparatus while starting a first timer and a second timer for the HARQ process, wherein the first timer indicates a time period during which the transport block is able to be retransmitted, and wherein the second timer is configured to expire before the first timer; monitor a response associated with the transport block from the second apparatus; and in response to the second timer expiring before receiving the response and before expiry of the first timer, retransmit the transport block while restarting the second timer.

After the terminal device initiates the SDT procedure in an inactive mode, if the terminal determines that a buffer status report (BSR) is triggered, the terminal device determines whether a configuration of a SR mask is to be applied for a LCH configured for SDT.
