Abstract: A sidelink (SL) configuration for SL communications directly between a communication terminal and another communication terminal is separate from a communication network link configuration for communications with network equipment in some embodiments. An SL configuration, which could be an SL reconfiguration or an SL preconfiguration for use by the communication terminal after the terminal transitions from in coverage to out of coverage, could be transmitted through network/terminal signaling, and detailed examples of such signaling are disclosed herein. An SL configuration could be or include an SL bandwidth part (BWP) configuration and an SL communication resource configuration, such as one or more resource pools, within the SL BWP. An SL configuration that is determined and transmitted by network equipment to one or more terminals could also or instead involve a common or initial SL configuration to be used for SL communications by multiple communication terminals.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sidelink configuration are provided. A transmitting user equipment (UE) transmits configuration parameters relating to a sidelink transmission between the UE and a second UE via higher-layer signalling and then transmits the sidelink transmission to the second UE. The higher layer signalling is a layer above the sidelink transmission. The parameters may include feedback channel parameters or parameters for sidelink reference signal transmission by the second UE. The parameters may be selected by the transmitting UE, or they may be received initially from the network. The parameters may be part of a sidelink configured grant configuration (SL CG) signalled to the second UE. The sidelink transmission may be a configured-grant transmission to the second UE according to the SL CG configuration. The higher layer signalling may be PC5 signalling or RRC signaling.

Abstract: Resource usage information is determined at a first UE about usage of a first communication resource by other UEs based on signals received by the UE. The first communication resource is excluded from a set of candidate communication resources when the resource usage information exceeds a usage threshold. When the first communication resource is excluded, a second communication resource from the candidate communication resources remaining in the set is selected to use for a transmission by the UE.
