Abstract:
A spin-valve magnetic head has a first ferromagnetic layer with a first easy axis of magnetization extending in a first direction, and a second ferromagnetic layer provided on, and separated from, the first ferromagnetic layer. The second ferromagnetic layer has a magnetization in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The magnetization defines a line in the second direction. An anti-ferromagnetic layer provided on the second ferromagnetic layer is exchange coupled to the second ferromagnetic layer. The second ferromagnetic layer has a second easy axis of magnetization extending in a direction intersecting the line in the second direction.
Abstract:
An input video signal is reduced according to size reduction ratio data K in an input processing section and written into alternate field memories. The written reduced video signal is alternately read from the field memories in a display processing section and processed for window displaying. Video reduction control sections are provided on the respective input and display sides, so that various signals, such as RHOLD, ADCANS, RACK signals, etc., are exchanged therebetween. When a size reduction ratio data K is changed, on the display side a read memory is fixed on a first field memory and size data is fixed, while on the write side video data is written into a second field memory, based on the new reduction ratio. After updating the size data on the display side, video data is read from the second field memory at the new reduction ratio. When reading and writing operations with respect to the second field memory are finished, fixing of the respective memories is released, whereby a signal processing operation returns to a normal operation.
Abstract:
A coating method and coating apparatus capable of providing a coated film of improved surface properties free from any streak and color shading and facilitating coating on a sheet of an increased width without causing enlargement of the apparatus and thus complicating its structure. A swirling motion imparting mechanism and an orifice are arranged at a connection between a liquid feed pipe and a coater. Swirling motion is imparted to coating liquid discharged from a pump and then a flow velocity of the coating liquid is immediately increased to a level as high as 200 cm/s or more, the liquid then being fed into a pocket of the coater within 0.1 second or less. This permits shearing to act on the coating liquid, to thereby effectively prevent a variation in viscosity of the coating liquid and flocculation thereof, so that the coated film may be improved in surface properties.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cursor control device for controlling the display position of a cursor displayed on a display device. The cursor displayed on the display device is remotely controlled by a remote control transmitter. The remote control transmitter is provided with, for example, a light emitting element emitting light rays having a particular wavelength, for example, infrared rays. The position of the remote control transmitter is detected by an imaging device including a CCD. The position of the cursor on a display screen of the display device is controlled on the basis of the detected position of the remote control transmitter.
Abstract:
In a magnetic recording medium comprising a magnetic layer containing a magnetic powder, 5 to 20% by weight based on the weight of the magnetic powder of a non-magnetic abrasive having a Mohs hardness of at least 6, and a binder on a non-magnetic substrate, the magnetic layer becomes more durable while maintaining electromagnetic properties by distributing the abrasive in the magnetic layer such that its concentration is highest in a surface-adjoining portion and continuously decreases therefrom toward the substrate side. The medium is prepared by applying a magnetic coating to a substrate and continuously passing the coated substrate through reversing magnetic fields prior to curing of the coating.
Abstract:
An electrically-conductive or insulating non-magnetic intermediate layer is inserted between a free magnetic layer and a pinned magnetic layer in a current-perpendicular-to-the-plane (CPP) structure magnetoresistive element. At least one of the free magnetic layer and the pinned magnetic layer is made of a nitrided magnetic metal alloy. This nitrided magnetic layers allows the CPP structure magnetoresistive element to enjoy an increased magnetoresistance change (ΔRA). In addition, the saturation magnetic flux density (Bs) decreases in a nitrided magnetic metal alloy. The inversion of magnetization is thus easily caused in the low Bs magnetic layer. The detection sensitivity of the CPP structure magnetoresistive element is improved. The CPP structure magnetoresistive element is thus allowed to detect magnetic bit data with higher accuracy.

Abstract:
A CPP-type magnetoresistive element including a fixed magnetization layer, a non-magnetic metal layer, and a free magnetization layer that are stacked, and a diffusion prevention layer is disclosed. The free magnetization layer includes CoMnAl. The diffusion prevention layer is provided between the non-magnetic metal layer and the free magnetization layer so as to prevent Mn included in the free magnetization layer from diffusing into the non-magnetic metal layer. CoMnAl has a composition within the area formed by connecting Point A (44, 23, 33), Point B (48, 25, 27), Point C (60, 20, 20), Point D (65, 15, 20), Point E (65, 10, 25), Point F (60, 10, 30), and Point A with straight lines in this order in a ternary composition diagram where coordinates of the composition are expressed as (Co content, Mn content, Al content) with each of the Co, Mn, and Al contents being expressed in atomic percentage.
