Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for a base station transmitting a modulation and coding scheme index corresponding to a modulation and coding scheme table to a user equipment (UE). The modulation and coding scheme index may be applied to encoding or decoding a transport block. The modulation and coding scheme may be associated with at least two modulation orders or a differential indication according to a modulation and coding scheme table. To determine which of the modulation orders for processing the transport block, the UE and the base station may use a prior modulation order associated with a prior transmission of the transport block. The UE may process the transport block by encoding or decoding the transport block based at least in part on the determined modulation order.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some examples provide for identifying a primary synchronization signal (PSS) sequence of a synchronization subframe, determining, for the synchronization subframe, an extended synchronization signal (ESS) sequence based at least in part on the PSS sequence and transmitting the synchronization subframe. Other examples provide for generating an ESS sequence for a synchronization subframe to be communicated to a UE, scrambling the ESS sequence based at least in part on cell-specific information associated with the base station and transmitting, to the UE, the scrambled ESS sequence in the synchronization subframe.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for minimizing latency between receipt of a NACK at a base station from a user equipment (UE) and retransmission of data to the UE. Time constraints for processing the ACK/NACK are relaxed so the base station can decode the ACK/NACK to determine whether a NACK has been received and then prepare for transmission of the appropriate data to the UE in the immediately following transmission time interval (TTI). These constraints are relaxed by separating download data indicator (DDI) from the PDCCH control data and delaying transmission of the DDI until decoding of the ACK/NACK.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods associated with interference aware sounding reference signals are provided. A method for wireless communication includes receiving, at a wireless communication device in communication with a first base station, an interfering signal from a second base station (or others); determining, at the wireless communication device, a spatial direction of the interfering signal; and transmitting, with the wireless communication device, a signal to the first base station based on the spatial direction of the interfering signal. Another method includes receiving, at a first base station, a signal from a wireless communication device, the signal based on a spatial direction of an interfering signal received by the wireless communication device from a second base station (or others); transmitting, with the first base station, a downlink communication to the wireless communication device, the downlink communication beamformed in the spatial direction based on the signal received from the wireless communication device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In a new radio (NR) system, a wireless device may encode control information into a codeword using a polar code. The device may prioritize certain information within the codeword due to the time criticalness of that information for processing at a receiving device. For example, information related to frequency allocation may be encoded such that the receiving device may decode the frequency allocation information early in the decoding process. The device may include partial parity checks throughout the codeword, so that the receiving device may test whether the decoded bits for the prioritized information pass a parity check, and may then send these decoded bits for processing before completing decoding of the codeword. In some cases, the device may encode the information to be transmitted using multiple evenized codewords, or using a single consolidated codeword.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for methods, apparatus, and computer software for enabling a single media access control (MAC) layer to control a variety of physical (PHY) layers or entities for multiplexing signals corresponding to each of the PHY layers over an air interface. Here, the MAC layer may include a resource manager configured to determine a time-frequency resource allocation within the air interface for communication with one or more subordinate entities utilizing each of the PHY layers. In this way, The MAC entity may provide dynamic control over the allocation of time-frequency resources within a given resource group, which may include transmission time intervals (TTIs) having multiple time scales.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one method, a first transmission may be transmitted on a contention-based channel, and a scheduling request for the first transmission may be transmitted on a scheduled channel. The scheduling request may be transmitted prior to determining that an acknowledgment (ACK) message has been received for the first transmission. In another method, a scheduling request for a first transmission may be received on a scheduled channel from a wireless device. Upon decoding a reception of the first transmission on a contention-based channel, transmission of a transmission grant to the wireless device may be withheld. Upon failing to decode the reception of the first transmission on the contention-based channel, the transmission grant may be transmitted to the wireless device.

Abstract: Coding for bursty interference is discussed in which a base station receives data bits for transmission. The base station may generate code blocks including information bits and parity bits. The base station may also generate parity check code blocks including information bits corresponding to information bits of the generated code blocks. The base station may transmit the code blocks and the parity check code blocks to a mobile device to improve decoding. When errors are detected, the mobile device may decode the received code blocks using hard or soft parity checks and the parity check code blocks.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for fountain hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) for reliable low latency communication. A wireless device may transmit a data block based on a low latency operational mode. The device may then transmit a number of redundancy versions of the data block prior to determining whether an acknowledgement (ACK) has been received. In some examples the ACK may be an augmented ACK, which may be based on the number of redundancy versions received prior to successfully decoding the data block, and which may include an additional resource request. In some examples, the device may select an updated modulation and coding scheme (MCS) based on the augmented ACK. In some examples, the device may increase a number of frequency resources (e.g., component carriers) used for transmission based on the augmented ACK.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer program product, and an apparatus are provided. The method may be performed by a scheduling entity. The scheduling entity transmits control information in a control portion of the subframe, the control information corresponding to data information within the subframe, transmits the data information in a data portion of the subframe, receives a pilot signal from the set of subordinate entities in a pilot portion of the subframe, and receives an ACK/NACK signal from the set of subordinate entities in an ACK portion of the subframe. The ACK portion is subsequent to the pilot portion of the subframe. The ACK/NACK signal includes acknowledgment information corresponding to the data information. The control portion, the data portion, the pilot portion, and the ACK portion are contained in the same subframe.
