Abstract: Processing circuitry of a device is configured to determine that a plurality of derived modes (DMs) available for predicting a luma block of video data are also available for predicting a chroma block of the video data, the chroma block corresponding to the luma block, to form a candidate list of prediction modes with respect to the chroma block, the candidate list including one or more DMs of the multiple DMs, to determine to code the chroma block using any DM of the candidate list. The processing circuitry may, based on the determination to code the chroma block using any DM of the one or more DMs of the candidate list, code an indication identifying a selected DM of the candidate list to be used for coding the chroma block. The processing circuitry may code the chroma block according to the selected DM of the candidate list.

Abstract: An example device for coding video data includes a memory configured to store video data, and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to code a first motion vector difference (MVD) representing a difference between a first motion vector of a current block of video data predicted using affine prediction and a first motion vector predictor (MVP) for the first motion vector, predict a second MVD from the first MVD for a second motion vector of the current block, and code the current block using affine prediction according to the first motion vector and the second motion vector. Predicting the second MVD from the first MVD in this may reduce bitrate of a bitstream including coded video data, as well as improve processing efficiency.

Abstract: Techniques are described for bilateral filtering in video coding process. The techniques utilize non-local bilateral filtering techniques. The non-local bilateral filtering techniques may include determining sample value differences between a first window that includes a current sample to be filtered and one or more additional samples, and a second window that includes a neighboring sample with which the current sample is being filtered and one or more additional samples. The techniques utilize the sample value differences to determine a weighting parameter for bilateral filtering.

Abstract: A device includes one or more processors configured to derive, from among a plurality of intra prediction modes, M most probable modes (MPMs) for intra prediction of a block of video data. A syntax element indicating whether a MPM index or a non-MPM index is used to indicate a selected intra prediction mode of the plurality of intra prediction modes for intra prediction of the block of video data is decoded. Based on the indicated one of the MPM index or the non-MPM index being the MPM index, the one or more processors select, for each of one or more context-modeled bins of the MPM index, based on intra prediction modes used to decode one or more neighboring blocks, a context index for the context-modeled bin. The one or more processors reconstruct the block of video data based on the selected intra prediction mode.

Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for signaling and processing information indicating simplified depth coding (SDC) for depth intra-prediction and depth inter-prediction modes in a 3D video coding process, such as a process defined by the 3D-HEVC extension to HEVC. In some examples, the disclosure describes techniques for unifying the signaling of SDC for depth intra-prediction and depth inter-prediction modes in 3D video coding. The signaling of SDC can be unified so that a video encoder or video decoder uses the same syntax element for signaling SDC for both the depth intra-prediction mode and the depth inter-prediction mode. Also, in some examples, a video coder may and/or process a residual value generated in the SDC mode using the same syntax structure, or same type of syntax structure, for both the depth intra-prediction mode and depth inter-prediction mode.

Abstract: For at least one respective bin of the bin stream, a decoder may determine, based on a state for the respective bin, an interval for the respective bin, and the offset value, a value of the respective bin. Additionally, the decoder determines one or more Finite State Machine (FSM) parameters for a next bin of the bin stream. The one or more FSM parameters for the next bin controls how probability estimates for the next bin are computed from a state for the respective bin. The decoder determines using a parameterized state updating function that takes as input the state for the respective bin, the one or more FSM parameters for the next bin of the bin stream, and the value of the respective bin, a state for the next bin of the bin stream. The decoder may debinarize the bin stream to form a decoded syntax element.

Abstract: A video encoder reconstructs pixels of a current block and applies a deblocking filter to the reconstructed pixels of the current block to derive deblocking-filtered reconstructed pixels of the current block. Furthermore, the video encoder calculates distortion values based on values of the deblocking-filtered reconstructed pixels of the current block and original pixels of the current block. The video encoder selects, based on the calculated distortion values, an encoding mode for the current block. The encoding mode for the current block is a partitioning mode for the current block or a coding unit mode for the current block.
