Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for priority-based carrier selection in a system using multiple component carriers (CCs). A mapping may be provided that maps different applications that may be present at a user equipment (UE) to one or more CCs. Each application may have an associated application priority, and each carrier associated with an application may also have an associated CC priority. A UE may select a subset of CCs for a transmission based on the mapping between an application providing a packet for the transmission and the priority associated with each CC. A UE, when receiving transmissions, may identify one or more applications running at the UE and use the mapping to determine a subset of CCs to monitor for transmissions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) that is configured to transmit a message to a neighboring UE via multiple formats, identify a service parameter indicative of a format to be used for the message. The UE may convey information indicating the service parameter from a first layer of the UE to a second layer of the UE, wherein the first layer is an upper layer with respect to the second layer. The UE may generate, by the second layer and based at least in part on the information, the message in the format for communicating with the neighboring UE. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A transmitting device may identify resource blocks (RBs) used to transmit data in a data transmission. The transmitting device may determine a frequency width of a data channel in a frequency domain that is used to transmit the data based at least in part on the identified RBs. The transmitting device may dynamically determine an allocation of RBs used to transmit control information in a control channel. The allocation of RBs may be based on the frequency width of the data channel and may cause a frequency width of the control channel to match the frequency width of the data channel in the frequency domain. The transmitting device may transmit the control information in the control channel to indicate a location of the data channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. For example, a requesting device may transmit a sensor data request message to a responding device. The sensor data request message may include a token identifier associated with the sensor data request message. The requesting device may receive a sensor data response message from the responding device. The sensor data response message may include a first indication of the token identifier at a first layer and a second indication of the token identifier at a second layer. The first layer may be a physical layer that is a lower layer than the second layer. The requesting device may transmit a first feedback message to the responding device and in response to detecting the first indication of the token identifier at the first layer.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided that enable UEs to conserve power while involved in ProSe communication. The apparatus transmits discovery class information for ProSe communication to an A-UE and to an M-UE. The discovery class information may be transmitted from a PF in response to discovery requests. Discovery class rules may be sent from the PF as a part of service authorization. The discovery class information may be transmitted from a ProSe application server as application layer signaling. The A-UE and M-UE may use the discovery class information to select a pool of ProSe resources according to the discovery class information for transmission or monitoring of ProSe communication. The M-UE may use the information to reduce the number of resource pools of resources that are monitored for ProSe communication.

Abstract: In one aspect of this disclosure, control information and data are carried in the same subframe in order to reduce control overhead. A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a first UE. The first UE determines a data block to be transmitted to a second UE. The first UE determines a first resource in a subframe for carrying the data block and determines a second resource in the subframe for carrying control information associated with transmitting the data block. The first UE transmits the data block and the control information to the second UE in a device-to-device communication channel on the determined first and second resources, respectively.

Abstract: A transmitting UE may in a device-to-device (D2D) communication may identify a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence for a D2D transmission based at least in part on a subset of bits of a sidelink control information (SCI) transmission. The subset of bits of the SCI transmission may be selected such that the bits have sufficient variability to reduce the likelihood that multiple UEs may use the same DMRS sequence. The subset of bits of the SCI transmission may be all or a portion of a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for the SCI.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for device-to-device (D2D) wireless communication. A device may receive a timing variable from a network while the device is in a connected mode. The device may then use the timing variable for D2D discovery message authentication. The device may compare the timing variable with a local timing variable to determine whether a difference between the two variables is within a maximum allowable offset. The device may announce the D2D discovery message to another device when the difference is within the maximum allowable offset.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for device-to-device (D2D) wireless communication. A device may transmit an initiation message to a base station indicating that the device desires to initiate a D2D communication session. The device may then receive a response from the base station that includes parameters for configuration of the D2D session. When it has data to send to another device, the device may transmit buffer status report (BSR) to the base station. The base station may respond with a grant of D2D scheduling assignment (SA) configured according to the previously sent parameters. For example, the message may be scrambled with a D2D temporary identity sequence. In some cases, the device may transmit a group identification (ID) code to the base station, and the group ID may be associated with an index, so an SA for that group can be reference by index.
