A method for wireless communication includes determining a random reflection parameter for each of one or more RISs. The random reflection parameter is random over time for the one or more RISs. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) may transmit a capability information message including an indicating that the RIS is capable of participating in network communications and communicating with other RISs on the network. A first RIS may communicate beam information to a second RIS directly, or the first RIS may communicate beam information to the second RIS via a base station, or the first RIS may communicate beam information to the second RIS via a user equipment (UE). In some examples, one RIS may request beam information or reflecting assistance from another RIS.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for connection setup in an orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based communication system are described. A first device and a second device may establish an OAM communications connection between the devices. The first device and the second device may exchange a series of messages over a downlink communications link and an uplink communications link according to an OAM mode. Based on OAM related parameters or OAM related information included in the messages, the first device and the second device may achieve a successful directional alignment (co-axial alignment) between the first device and the second device. The first device and the second device may determine one or more orbital angular momentum modes for communication between the first device and the second device based on the establishing the directional alignment.
