A cooling fan is disposed in the rear of said cylindrical casing for blowing air toward the heat exchanger.

    摘要: A prism light guide luminaire has opaque and light emitting surface portions which together form a selected cross-sectional configuration. The opaque surface portion has a light reflecting characteristic. The light emitting surface portion is prism light guide material which confines, within the luminaire, light rays which strike the material at angles falling within the material's acceptance angular range. Within the luminaire, a light scattering area having a predefined shape and location redirects light into angles falling outside the material's acceptance angular range. The luminaire's cross-sectional configuration, the opaque surface portion's light reflecting characteristic, and the shape and location of the light scattering area are selected such that (i) light redirected by the light scattering area which does not pass directly from the scattering area to the light emitting surface portion and escape through that portion is substantially efficiently reflected by the prismatic material directly back onto the scattering area; and, (ii) all paths along which light may pass directly from the scattering area to the light emitting surface portion define a solid angle less than 2.pi..

    摘要: A solid state laser medium for use in a solid state laser oscillator uses a hollow cylindrical solid state laser medium which is formed cylindrically in order to improve the cooling efficiency of the laser. The laser includes a pumping device for exciting the laser medium and an optical resonator that is arranged on both ends in the axial direction of the laser medium. The pumping device includes a plurality of flash lamps that are arranged on the outside, with respect to the central longitudinal access of the laser medium, of the outer surface of the hollow cylindrical laser medium and an outer reflector that is arranged so as to enclose the flash lamps and the laser medium, from the outside, with respect to the central longitudinal access of the laser medium, of the flash lamps, and a cylindrical inner reflector with outer diameter which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the laser medium, the inner reflector being inserted in the cavity of the laser medium. Cooling apparatus for cooling the hollow cylindrical solid state laser medium from both the outer longitudinal surface and the inner longitudinal surface of the hollow cylinder are also provided.

    摘要: A Multi-Flash Lamp laser system incorporates a solid state fluorescent converter. The multiple Flash Lamps are symmetrically positioned on opposite sides of the major dimension of the lasing material but avoid coupling of light between the lamps. The optical efficiency of the laser systems is enhanced by means of a fluorescent converter positioned between the lamps and the laser to reduce reflector losses and convert light outside of the laser pumping band to the pumping band wave lengths.

    摘要: An optically pumped single mode laser, e.g., Nd:YAG crystal (20) with planoconcave mirrors is increased in efficiency by an order of magnitude to about 8% by optics (25, 27) for focusing the high power multimode output of laser diode arrays (21, 22) into the mode volume (20') of the laser medium (20). A plurality of these optically pumped single mode lasers (1-4) may be cascaded in a ring with dichroic mirrors (M.sub.1 -M.sub.4) at the corners for coupling in the laser diode arrays, each having its own means for spatially tailoring its beam to concentrate pump distribution inside the lasing mode volume of the medium. An InGaAlAs pump diode (30) with its wavelength the same as the lasing medium makes the ring unidirectional.

    摘要: An improved laser rod cooling system in which a laser rod (18) is cooled by conducting the heat generated thereby to a flexible, cushioning gel (21) which surrounds and contacts the rod along its length and secures the rod within a fully enclosing support (22). The support is thermally conductive and transparent to the pumping energy from a flashlamp (12). The gel material absorbs differential thermal expansion between the rod and its support to avoid any stresses otherwise exerted on the rod, while the complete surrounding of the rod by the support minimizes thermal gradients within the rod. Thus, a light beam with minimal optical distortion is generated by the laser rod.
