摘要： A rotary processor has enclosed processing passages defined by channels in the rotor and a stationary coaxial closure. At least one processing passage is used as a stabilizing passage and another as a metering passage, whose volume and cross section are less than the stabilizing passage. A feed of plastic or polymeric material enters the stabilizing passage and may be subject to fluctuations or disturbances arising in external upstream equipment or within upstream stages of the processor itself. Substantially all material in the stabilizing passage is diverted through a first transfer passage to an entrance into the metering passage. An adjustable metering (throttling) element allows a controlled first flow of material to be carried downstream through an adjustable gap between this metering element and the bottom of the metering passage. This controlled first flow is discharged for providing material having uniform flow or at least a marked reduction in such fluctuations and disturbances. The excess material which does not pass through the adjusted gap forms a recycled second flow which is returned back through a second transfer passage into said stabilizing passage for recycling. A modified embodiment shown as metering pumping apparatus includes pairs of stabilizing and metering passages sharing in handling throughput with adjustable throttling means for each metering passage. Interconnecting transfer passages equalize operation among these pairs. A transfer passage is also shown extending from an upstream processing passage to and past a metering passage to a stabilizing passage.

The extruders include an extruder barrel containing a bore sized to process 5 to 50 grams of material, wherein the bore has an upstream inlet portion for feeding the material to be processed and a downstream outlet portion connectable to an extruder exit for material processed through the extruder, and at least two recycle channels which differ from one another in at least one of volume, area of cross-section and length. A diverter valve of a flow control system is positioned at the outlet of the extruder for controllably directing material flow from the bore to either the extruder exit or at least one of at least two recycle channels.

摘要： A method for reverse degassing a melt of thermoplastic plastics material and an extrusion device therefor. Thermoplastic plastics materials are fed into the extrusion device either in the form a melt or as a granulated, which latter is fused to form a melt. A portion of the melt is separated from the main melt stream. The extrusion device includes, in a downstream direction, a return-blocking zone, a degassing zone, a feed zone and a conveying zone. The separated portion is removed from the feed zone, the conveying zone or even a feed conduit leading into the feed zone if the material is already molten. The extrusion device also includes screw means rotating in a barrel. The screw has at least two different flight portions, one in the returning-blocking zone and the other in at least the degassing zone. The separated melt portion is fed, through a by-pass conduit, into the return-blocking zone in an amount sufficient to fill the screw flight in this zone but which only partially fills the screw flight in the degassing zone when it is transferred thereunto, by the screw means, from the return-blocking zone. The partially-filling of the flight in the degassing zone must, however, be sufficient to ensure continued conveyance of the melt into the downstream feed and conveying zones.
