    摘要: For automatically drilling boreholes within halving joints and frame portions of lattice windows, ejecting glue into said boreholes and inserting dowels, units are proposed, which consist of three dowel inserting devices and three associated glue injecting devices each being operable individually and simultaneously, and which are arranged according to the borehole pattern within the face of a halving joint. For disposing the dowels in magazines and for inserting said dowels into the boreholes in a controlled manner changeable magazines are proposed the bottom of which is arranged above a dowel receiving head and the dowel discharge location is associated to the receiving locations of the dowel receiving head; in this position dowels are transferred into the recesses of the dowel receiving head and are arranged in the discharge position from which they are inserted by means of dowel ejectors into aligned boreholes of a workpiece.

    摘要: In the manufacturing of wood poles a number of sections are glued together along abutting side surfaces (7, 8) so that a tubular pole (19) with a central cavity is formed. The side surfaces (7, 8) which have been provided with glue are brought into intimate contact with each other so as to give a tube (19). Sealing covers (20, 21) of the lika are placed at both ends of the tube so that these are sealed, whereafter air is pumped out from the central cavity (23) through one or both of the said covers so as to give a vacuum in the cavity in comparison with the external pressure, whereby the contact pressure between the abutting side surfaces increases. The vacuum is maintained until the glued joints (31) have been fixed.

    摘要: A method of uniformly applying a foamed adhesive to a normally moving substrate which is subject to stops and starts at irregular intervals. A uniform spread weight of adhesive is applied during a deceleration period and startups can be accomplished without causing puddles or gaps. The method is especially useful in conjunction with an automated plywood lay-up line. Foamed adhesive is supplied under pressure to an extrusion head. When a line stoppage is sensed a first valve above the extrusion head closes. Adhesive within the head continues to expand and fall onto the substrate, but does so at a descreasing rate during the deceleration time. As the substrate comes to a complete stop a second valve prevents further adhesive from being applied. Before a startup, the adhesive in the system is reconditioned by passing it into a recycle line until foam quality andpressure drop across the extrusion head have again assumed normal operating parameters. Only then is the substrate movement started. At that time application of adhesive is resumed.

    摘要: Apparatus for melting and applying meltable adhesive in which a separate melting insert including a melting wall is interposed between the melting chamber and the application device. The melting wall is formed with projections or cones, and channels for passing molten adhesive to the nozzle body of the application device. A piston in the melting chamber presses a unit of adhesive against the melting wall. The melting wall is independently heated by a heater and controlling temperature sensor. The nozzle body and melting insert/melting wall are formed of different metallic materials, the latter being made of light metal alloy for better thermal conducting response. The melting insert forming the melting wall is removable to facilitate the cleaning and maintenance.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method of and apparatus for laminating timber to form beams for use in structural and other uses. The beam is formed from timber strips forced through a set of pressure means comprising preferably pressure rollers in a side by side relationship with bonding medium applied to the vertical sides of the strips. These sides preferably have interengaging castellations formed thereon for improved connection between the strips. The strips are formed from timber lengths which are connected together preferably by finger jointing. The bonding medium is applied to the side faces of the timber lengths and to the ends at the same time. A braking system ensures that the ends of timber lengths are spaced well apart to enable adequate bonding medium to be applied to the timber length ends. The timber lengths are forced forwardly by an oscillating hydraulic cylinder acting through clamps to ensure that the ends of the timber lengths engage firmly and also to provide substantial forces for urging the strips through the pressure rolls.

    摘要: Foamed liquid mixtures are applied to substrates, in particular foamed plywood glues, are spread on traveling wood veneers in the manufacture of plywood by a method comprising the following steps: The liquid is withdrawn from a source of the same, is subjected to a mechanical beating action wherein its density is reduced and is then passed to a reservoir or feed storage vessel. Density-reduced liquid is then foamed and the foam is continuously extruded or otherwise spread on an intermittently-moving substrate during the periods of motion of the substrate. The foamed liquid is continuously diverted from the substrate during the periods of rest of the substrate. The diverted foamed liquid then is defoamed by subjecting it to the same mechanical beating action applied to the liquid thereby increasing its density to substantially that of the density-reduced liquid. Thus, there is obtained a uniform density feed to the foamer making possible a uniform application of foamed liquid on the substrate even though the motion of the substrate is started and stopped at frequent intervals.

    摘要: A hot melt adhesive dispensing system that includes a hand held gun and a molten adhesive source, the gun and the source being selectively connectable one with the other in a novel manner to permit charging and recharging of the gun with molten adhesive from the molten adhesive source. The hand gun includes novel charge valve structure adapted to interconnect with novel feed valve structure mounted on the hot melt adhesive source so as to accomplish transfer of a hot melt adhesive charge in molten form, from the source to the gun storage chamber. The adhesive is pressurized within the gun's storage chamber by a novel pressure device at least partially incorporated within the storage chamber, thereby providing the motive force to cause discharge of molten adhesive from the gun's nozzle in response to manual activation of the gun's trigger.
