摘要: A heart pump assembly, also referred to as catheter assembly, having a desired anatomical shape is provided. The catheter assembly can include a catheter and a cannula having a bend between a proximal portion and a distal portion. A resting shape of the catheter and the cannula can be selected to allow the distal cannula portion to be positioned at a desired angle relative to an anatomical plane (e.g., a plane of an aortic arch). In some embodiments, a packaging tray can be designed to set the catheter assembly in a desired resting shape. For example, the proximal cannula portion can be positioned at a first angle relative to the catheter, and the proximal cannula portion can be positioned at a second angle out of the plane of the packaging tray via one or more inserts.

摘要: The systems, devices, and methods presented herein use a heart pump to obtain measurements of cardiovascular function. The heart pumps described herein can operate in parallel with and unload the heart. The system can quantify the functioning of the native heart by measuring certain parameters/signals such as pressure or motor current, then calculate and display one or more metrics of cardiovascular function. These metrics, such as left ventricular end diastolic pressure (LVEDP), left ventricular pressure, and contractility, provide valuable information to a user regarding a patient's state of heart function and recovery.

摘要: A system and method for end-to-side anastomosis to an anatomical passageway is disclosed. The system and method are particularly useful in coupling an LVAD pump to an aorta. The system and method include using a tubular graft member having a skirt flange that engages the side of the aorta, a seating assembly and a flanged stent for securing the tubular graft to the side of the anatomical passageway. An assembly for creating an opening in the side of the anatomical passageway and an assembly for delivering the tubular graft is also disclosed.

摘要: Mechanical circulatory assist systems and related methods produce a pulsatile blood flow in synchronization with heart activity. A mechanical circulatory assist system includes a continuous-flow pump and a controller. The continuous-flow pump is implantable in fluid communication with a left ventricle of a heart of a patient and an aorta of the patient to assist blood flow from the left ventricle to the aorta. The controller includes a sensor that generates a signal indicative of an activity of the heart. The controller is operatively connected to the continuous-flow pump and configured to operate the continuous-flow pump in an artificial pulse mode in synchronization with the activity of the heart.

摘要: A catheter pump system is disclosed. The catheter pump system can include a shaft assembly and an impeller coupled with a distal portion of the shaft assembly. The catheter pump system can include a motor assembly, the motor assembly comprising a chamber and a shaft-driving portion disposed in the chamber. The shaft-driving portion can be configured to impart rotation to the impeller through the shaft assembly. The chamber can be filled with a gas that at least partially surrounds the shaft-driving portion. A fluid pathway can convey fluid proximally during operation of the catheter pump system. A bypass pathway can be in fluid communication with the fluid pathway, the bypass pathway configured to direct at least a portion of the fluid to bypass the chamber.

The apparatus has a sensor adapted to be implanted into the patient. The sensor in communication with the cardiac assist device and the heart which measures native volume of the heart. Alternatively, the sensor monitors the heart based on admittance while the cardiac assist device. Alternatively, the sensor monitors the heart based on impedance.

摘要: A method of estimating a patient's cardiac preload in a patient having an implantable blood pump. The method includes generating a current waveform from operation of the implanted blood pump. A beat-to-beat pump filling index (PFI) is calculated, the PFI is calculated by dividing a current amplitude component by a time component, the amplitude component being calculated by subtracting a trough of the current waveform from an inflection point divided by an amplitude difference of peak to trough of the waveform, the time component being calculated by dividing a time between the trough and the inflection point by a time between the peak and the trough. An alert is generated if the PFI deviates from predetermined thresholds.

摘要: Blood pump for percutaneous insertion into a heart's ventricle comprising an electrical motor for driving the blood pump, the electrical motor comprising at least tree motor winding units, wherein each motor winding unit is individually connectable to a power supply via two separate phase supply lines connected to the respective motor winding unit terminals. Motor controller for driving and controlling the electrical motor of the blood pump, wherein the motor controller comprises corresponding phase supply line driving units for each motor winding units of the electrical motor of the blood pump which phase supply line driving units are connected via the corresponding two-phase supply lines with the corresponding motor winding unit. Blood pump system comprising the blood pump and the motor controller. Control method for controlling the power supply to the motor winding units of the blood pump, wherein the method comprises: detecting a fault of one of the motor winding units, and in case of a detected faulty motor winding unit, switching off the corresponding phase supply line driving unit of the faulty motor winding unit and further operating the electrical motor by the remaining motor winding units, or, alternatively, adjusting driving parameters of the faulty motor winding unit and further operating the electrical motor by all motor winding units. Use of at least three independent motor winding units in an electrical motor for driving of a blood pump for percutaneous insertion, which motor winding units are individually connected to corresponding power supply via corresponding two separate phase supply lines connected to respective motor winding unit terminals of one of the at least three motor winding units.
