Abstract:
In a distributed computing system which employs smart cards to provide services, the need for a fixed mapping between methods that can be invoked from a card application and APDU messages is avoided. A card skeleton provides a decoding table to a client proxy when a connection is established between a card and a terminal. With the information provided from the skeleton, the proxy dynamically maps methods to APDU messages, for communication during a given session. As a result, if the on-card application is enhanced to provide new methods, its corresponding skeleton is upgraded to recognize those methods. When the card is connected to a terminal, the updated information is provided to the proxy at the terminal, to enable the user to access the enhanced features of the application.
Abstract:
In accordance with a plurality of processing requests, a SAM chip generates IC card entity data including job execution order data showing an order of execution of a plurality of jobs forming processing in accordance with a processing request and status data showing a state of progress of execution of said plurality of jobs for each of said processing requests. Further, the SAM chip selects one entity data from said plurality of entity data, selects and executes the job to be executed next based on the status data and processing order data of said selected entity data, and updates the status data in accordance with execution of said job.
Abstract:
A payment card comprises an internal dynamic PIN code generator and a user display for card-not-present transactions. Card-present transactions with merchant card readers are enabled by a dynamic magnetic array internally associated with the card's magnetic stripe. The user display and a timer are triggered by the user or automatically when the user needs to see the PIN code and/or begin a new transaction. A new PIN code is provided for each new transaction according to a cryptographic process, but the timer limits how soon a next new PIN code can be generated and displayed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides systems, methods and computer program products for updating a reference magnetic signature of a magstripe card. In one embodiment, magnetic signatures from a magstripe card, each previously captured from a terminal during a transaction are retrieved from a database. The magnetic signatures are examined to identify if the magnetic properties of the magstripe card have changed. If a change is detected, a new reference magnetic signature is selected and/or created based on the magnetic signatures examined to identify the change and assigned to the magstripe card.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method solving security problems resulting from the addition of a security circuit to a smart card reading terminal by providing said security circuit with means for counting the number of times the security circuit is activated for certain sensitive operations. When the total of said operations reaches a fixed value, the security circuit is prevented from operating until it is re-initialized again. Optionally, the circuit may have to be replaced by another.
Abstract:
A specially configured payment card that functions as both a standard payment, e.g., bank credit, debit, or ATM card for use in point-of-purchase transactions and an optical storage device that can be read by any common CD or DVD drive for use in secure online E-Commerce transactions. In order to prevent copying of the data stored in the optical storage media, a code can be included in the Absolute Time In Pregroove (ATIP) area of the optical media. This code can be used in order to protect against the use of counterfeit cards in online transactions.
Abstract:
A card processor which can substantially reliably prevent magnetic data recorded in a magnetic card and can remarkably enhance security. In the card processor, two radiation sources radiate disturbing magnetic fields outside of an insertion slot. A disturbing magnetic field radiated from one radiation source and a disturbing magnetic field radiated from the other radiation source have different frequencies and intensities. Accordingly, even when a differential head is located at such a position as to be influenced by the disturbing magnetic fields, it is substantially impossible to attain such balance adjustment as to eliminate the influences of the disturbing magnetic fields.
Abstract:
A time limit function utilization apparatus includes a first function block, a second function block, a signal line which connects the first and second function blocks and allows using a desired function that is generated by accessing the first and second function blocks with each other, and a semiconductor time switch interposed in or connected to the signal line, and disables or enables mutual access between the first and second function blocks upon the lapse of a predetermined time.
Abstract:
In a non-contact IC card, one block includes 16 bytes as a unit of reading/writing information, and the writing of the information up to 8 blocks which is a maximum simultaneous write size is guaranteed. The structure of a TOC (Table Of Contents) is built on a memory space of the card. When information exceeding the maximum simultaneous write size is written in, single transaction completes the corresponding TOC rewrite so as to prevent contents of the memory from being damaged even if the card is removed from a write device in the middle of writing. When writing data larger than a predetermined size, even if communication between devices is interrupted at any timing, the data consistency can be guaranteed suitably.
Abstract:
A method of setting validity period of IC card, includes preparing IC card including change unit whose state changes with lapse of time starting from initial state without external power, measuring unit configured to measure state of change unit so as to generate information indicating whether or not validity period has elapsed, and operation unit configured to be operable if information indicates that validity period fails to have yet elapsed, and to be inoperable if information indicates that validity period has elapsed, preparing IC card case capable to house IC card by user, IC card case including identification unit configured to determine whether or not user is legitimate, performing user identification utilizing identification unit, when IC card is housed in IC card case, and transmitting signal to change unit in IC card depending on result of user identification, signal initializing change unit to initial state.
