Abstract:
The electrophotographic member includes an electroconductive substrate and an electroconductive surface layer. The surface layer contains an electroconductivity imparting agent and a polyrotaxane including a first and a second polyrotaxane molecule. The first polyrotaxane molecule includes a first cyclic molecule, and the second polyrotaxane molecule includes a second cyclic molecule. The cyclic molecules of the first and the second polyrotaxane molecules are bound in such a manner that the oxygen atom of a hydroxy group of the first cyclic molecule and the oxygen atom of a hydroxy group of the second cyclic molecule are bound with a structure represented by the following structural formula (1): *-R1-Z-R2-** In this formula, z represents a linking group, and signs “*” and “**” represent binding sites to be bound to either of the oxygen atoms derived from the hydroxy groups of the first and the second cyclic molecule. R1 and R2 each represent a specific structure.

Abstract:
An image forming element, a fabricating method of the image forming element, and an image forming apparatus having the image forming element is provided. The image forming element includes a drum body, a driving circuit mounted within the drum body, a support plate which penetrates through the drum body longitudinally along the drum body, the support plate being coupled to the driving circuit, an insulating layer formed on at least one portion of an outer circumference of the drum body, a conductive polymer layer formed on the insulating layer, the conductive polymer layer including one or more conductive areas and one or more insulating areas, which are aligned in an alternating pattern, and a protective layer formed on the conductive polymer layer, wherein the conductive areas on the conductive polymer layer are electrically connected to the driving circuit. Therefore, an image forming element can be provided in which a conductive layer is formed so that conductive areas and insulating areas are patterned without stepped portions therebetween, simplifying the fabricating process and improving the precision.

The present invention relates to a flexible electrostatographic imaging member. The electrostatographic imaging member contains an optically transparent thermoplastic anti-curl back coating, which enables the imaging member to maintain desirable structural flatness, mechanical robustness, flexibility, longevity, and copy image qualities over extended use. The present invention also relates to a process of fabricating a flexible electrostatographic imaging member.

The base has a tapered inner surface with a specific taper angle (null). The base also has a projection formed at a specific position. The base is formed from a specific molding material.
Abstract:
An insulating host polymer is heavily loaded with resistive short fibers to form resistive films in the resistance range of 10.sup.2 to 10.sup.8 ohms/square having thicknesses in the range of 1.0 micron to 500 microns. The particular choice of resistive short fibers and film forming binder provides specific systems of needed resistivity and mechanical properties. Fibers are chosen having a bulk resistivity lower than a required resistivity of the resulting film and are loaded in an amount above a percolation threshold of the fibers in the film. Fine tuning of the resistivity is made by adjusting the amount of fibers in the film.
