摘要: Intermediate compositions useful for the preparation of improved hot melt butyl sealants are obtained by partially grafting a mixture of a butyl rubber, a different elastomer and/or a crystalline polymeric resin, and an elastomeric resin. Preferred compositions are (1) partially grafted mixtures of butyl rubber, epichlorohydrin rubber, and a block copolyester elastomeric resin, (2) partially grafted mixtures of butyl rubber, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and a block copolyester elastomeric resin, and (3) partially grafted mixtures of butyl rubber, styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer rubber, and a block copolyester elastomeric resin.

摘要: A pumpable, thermoplastic desiccated mastic capable of desiccating a sealed insulating glass unit. The disclosed compositions comprise a defined resin component and a desiccant/adsorbent component comprising at least 20% by weight of the composition of a desiccant or moisture and volatile organic chemical adsorbing material. The said desiccant/adsorbent component being present in an amount less than the level which will cause the composition when tested as set forth in ASTM D-1238, Procedure B using a 1100 gram load and an 8 gram sample at 190.degree. C. to provide a melt flow time for a piston travel of 2.54 cm(1 inch) of more than 60 seconds.

摘要: A pumpable, thermoplastic desiccated mastic capable of desiccating a sealed insulating glass unit. The disclosed compositions comprise:a resin component consisting essentially of:4-75 % by weight of the resin component of a film former, the film former consisting essentially of a liquid polybutene polymer, alone or in combination with one or both of a polyisobutylene polymer having a weight average molecular weight of about 35,000 or more, and a butyl rubber having a weight average molecular weight of up to about 500,000, said butyl rubber, if present, representing less than 50% of the film former component;25-96% by weight of the resin component of a non-crystalline homopolymer, copolymer, terpolymer or graft copolymer comprising polypropylene; and,0-20% by weight of the resin component of a low volatile UV stable tackifier compatible with the film former and polypropylene components; andan adsorbent component comprising:at least 20% by weight of the composition of a moisture or moisture and volatile organic chemical adsorbing material; and 0-10% by weight of the composition of an adsorbent of volatile organic compounds,said adsorbent component being present in an amount less than the level which will cause the composition when tested as set forth in ASTM D-1238, Procedure B using a 1100 gram load and an 8 gram sample at 190.degree. C. to provide a melt flow time for a piston travel of 1 inch of more than 60 seconds.

摘要: Fluid-sealing gasket sheet materials are described herein which seal particularly well against polar liquids. These gasketing sheets have from about 5 to about 20% fiber, and at least about 62% filler, and a reduced binder concentration, containg about 18% by weight of binder or less, allowing the binder to be reduced even to zero. The filler must be at least about 3% by weight of a gel-forming mineral filler. In addition to giving from good to very excellent seals against polar liquids, this gasketing also has good torque retention and creep resistance.

摘要: A novel, pumpable, thermoplastic desiccated mastic capable of desiccating a scaled insulating glass unit. The compositions utilize adhesive materials which have a low vapor transmission rate but, nevertheless, have been found to effectively dry the air space in the unit. They do not contribute to chemical fogging and, in preferred embodiments, reduce or eliminate chemical fogging caused by other structures in the assembly. The compositions adhere well to the U-channel material and do not flow or sag under the normal range of service conditions encountered by an insulating glass assembly.The disclosed compositions comprise:4-30 weight percent of a film former selected from the group consisting of polyisobutylene polymers having a molecular weight in the range of about 35,000 to about 60,000, and mixtures of such polymers with minor amounts of a butyl rubber having a molecular weight of up to about 500,000;20-50 weight % of a non-crystalline homopolymer, copolymer, terpolymer or graft copolymer comprising polypropylene;0-20 weight % of a low volatile UV stable tackifier compatible with the film former and polypropylene components; and20-50 weight % of an adsorbent component comprising 20-50% by weight of the composition of a moisture or moisture and volatile organic chemical adsorbing material, and 0-10% by weight of the composition of an adsorbent of volatile organic compounds.

摘要: A wet laying process for making fluid-sealing gasket sheet materials is described. The gasket materials seal particularly well against polar liquids. These gasketing sheets have from about 5 to about 20% fiber, and at least about 62% filler, and a reduced binder concentration, containing about 18% by weight of binder or less, allowing the binder to be reduced even to zero. 摘要: Bottle gaskets are provided from a thermoplastic composition comprising a homogeneous blend of butyl rubber with other thermoplastic polymer. The gaskets provide an effective seal at a moderate pressure but permit venting at a higher pressure. They can be made by inserting molten heated thermoplastic material into the bottle cap and moulding it in the cap and cooling it to form the gasket.

摘要: The disclosed water stopper and water stopping process use an aqueously-swelling water-stopping composition consisting of 10 to 40 weight % of rubber whose main ingredient is reclaimed rubber, 10 to 20 weight % of silicic compound, 10 to 60 weight % of bentonite, and 10 to 40 weight % of plasticizer. The aforesaid water-stopping composition may be extruded into an elongated water stopper with or without a core therein, which water stopper can be inserted into a joint gap or other gap of structural members to stop water at the gap.
