    摘要: A multi-reel apparatus for use in a drying section of a papermaking machine allows a web to be continuously wound without interruption. The apparatus includes a web support and a pair of vertically stacked reeling stations located along an inclined portion of the web support. Each reeling station has at least one reeling device operable to hold and rotatably drive a core onto which the web can wound to form a roll. Each reeling device is further operable to move the core into engagement with the web on the web support to initiate winding of the web onto the core, and to move the core away from the web support when the roll is fully wound. Winding is alternated between reeling devices, allowing the completed roll to be removed and a new core to be loaded at one reeling station while the other reeling station continues in full winding operation.

    摘要: An unwinding station continuously unwinds a material web, notably a paper or cardboard web, for a machine, specifically a coater, for conversion of the material web. The station includes a primary unwinding system, a secondary unwinding system and a splicing system to splice together material webs unwinding from two reels, with each reel being carried by one of the unwinding systems. The reel carried by the primary unwinding system, which is disposed after the splicing of the material webs to one another, is transferable by use of a carrying system to the secondary unwinding system. The unwinding station is distinguished specifically by an auxiliary drive that is movable jointly with the reel and which can be driven with the aid of the reel.

    摘要: A high bulk tissue web is made by depositing an aqueous suspension of papermaking fibers onto a forming fabric to form a web, drying the web, winding the dried web to form a plurality of large diameter parent rolls wound on a core, and transporting the parent rolls to an unwind stand having torque transmitting clamping means for engaging opposite end surfaces of the parent rolls. A backing plate is connected to and rotatable with an unwind shaft connected to an electric drive. An inflatable bladder is mounted on the backing plate. The clamping means engage a first parent roll by inflating the bladder such that the opposite end surfaces of the roll are sandwiched between the side clamping mechanisms for partially unwinding the first parent roll using a variable speed drive operably associated with the clamping means. The torque transmitting clamping means engage a second parent roll, and a leading end portion of the web on the second parent roll is joined to a trailing end portion of the partially unwound first parent roll to form a joined web without glue. In one aspect, the leading end portion of the web on the second parent roll is transported with a thread-up conveyor. In one aspect, the leading end portion of the web on the second parent roll is transported with vacuum means operably associated with an endless screen belt means with decreasing amounts of vacuum as the web is transported over the endless screen belt means.

The first roll is mounted at the first end and the second roll is mounted at the second end of the lever and the lever is pivotally mounted to the frame for pivoting between a first basic running position in which the first roll is spaced from the new machine reel and a second splicing position in which the first roll is in nip-defining engagement with the new machine reel and the new machine reel is spliced to the web of the machine reel being emptied. The lever pivots about an articulation point situated between a central axis of the first roll and a central axis of the second roll. The location of the articulation point is selected such that the length of a run of the web from a separation point on the machine reel being emptied to the guide roll is substantially constant during splicing and during unwinding.

    摘要: A flying paster is disclosed that achieves straight across splicing by utilizing web roll core drive technology. Splice calculations are based on input data sensed during preliminary acceleration of the new roll, which is disposed in a splicing position in the flying paster. Acceleration of the new roll is achieved by engagement between the center core shaft of a new roll and a movable brake and roll accelerator assembly. Then, calculations facilitate speed matching between the web running from a second, running roll mounted in the flying paster and the new roll. Splicing is facilitated by the utilization of two, two-sided adhesive strips. One adhesive strip is used to adhere the leading end of the new roll to the rest of the body of the new roll during the pre-splice speed matching, and the second adhesive strip is used for adhering the leading end of the new roll with the newly cut, trailing end of the running web. After splicing, the new, now-running web roll and the movable brake and roll accelerator assembly are moved from the splicing position to an operating position in the flying paster. In the latter position, control over the new, now-running roll is transferred from the movable brake and roll accelerator assembly to a fixed brake and brake accelerator assembly disposed in the flying paster adjacent to the operating position. The movable brake and roll accelerator assembly are then returned to a position adjacent the splicing position so as to be ready for the next, new roll.
