摘要: A printer for digital printing in which ink is deposited in metered amounts on a substrate. The printer includes a wheel rotatable by a shaft of a motor, an idler disposed in a paint reservoir, and a segment of wire disposed around the wheel and the idler. A computer controls movement of the wire by controlling the rotation of the wheel. As the motor rotates the wheel, electroluminescent material contained within the paint reservoir coats the wire and is drawn by the wire in front of an air stream, which pulls the electroluminescent material from the wire and carries it toward the substrate to make an electroluminescent sign.

摘要: The invention includes a method and apparatus (100) for producing mist of a liquid phase having very fine and mono-dispersed droplets. The method is realized by an apparatus (100) including a partition (101), defined by a first side surface (107) and a second side surface (113). The first side surface (107) is wetted by a liquid phase to form a film thereon, while the second side surface (113) is substantially dry. A gas stream is directed through the partition (101) from the dry side (113) to the wetted side (107) thereby forming a mist having droplets of less than i micron in size and a concentration of at least 1,000,000,000,000 per cubic cm.

摘要: A printing device for digital printing on a print medium is comprised of a wheel rotatable by a motor, a liquid dispenser for depositing a quantity of liquid on the wheel along the outer edge, and an air jet positioned adjacent the outer edge for removing the liquid from the outer edge and directing the liquid toward the print medium as the wheel rotates through the air jet. The outer edge includes a plurality of teeth transport the paint from the dispenser to the air jet. An electronically controlled motor is used to selectively rotate the wheel through the air jet thereby removing a desired amount of liquid from the wheel. The liquid is transported by the air jet toward the print medium. By employing a plurality of such printing devices, a full color digital image can be reproduced on any print medium.

摘要: This invention overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art by providing a non-contact apparatus for moistening envelope flaps that projects moistening fluid without pumping fluid. The present invention is directed to, in a general aspect, a non-contact envelope flap moistening apparatus which can be installed in a mailing machine apparatus. The apparatus for delivering moistening fluid to an envelope flap comprises: a reservoir containing the moistening fluid; a media partially submerged in the moistening fluid contained in the reservoir; the media wicking a portion of the moistening fluid as the media is moved through the reservoir and the moistening fluid; a drive means operably connected to the media for moving the media through the reservoir; a projecting means for projecting moistening fluid from the media, the projecting means positioned adjacent to the media on a side opposite the envelope flap, and near a portion of the media that is not submerged in the reservoir; and whereby when the projection means affects the media, a portion of the moistening fluid that has been wicked by the media is dislodged from the media forming droplets that travel to and moisten the envelope flap. The projecting means may be a nozzle connected to an air source for blowing air toward the media and towards the envelope flap or it may be an actuator for causing vibration of the media and causing projection of moistening fluid from the media.

摘要: A method of digital printing in which paint is deposited in metered amounts on a print medium includes providing a paint injector which advances a paint coated strand through the path of a fluid stream. The fluid stream removes the paint from the exterior of the strand and deposits the paint onto the surface of a print medium. The advancement of the strand is selectively controlled to effectively meter the paint applied to the print medium and the position of the paint injector is controlled relative to the print medium to form an image thereon. The paint injector is comprised of a wheel rotatable by a shaft of a motor, an idler at least partially disposed in paint contained in a reservoir, and a wire disposed at least partially around the wheel and the idler.

摘要: A fluid dispensing device having a housing assembly, a conduit assembly, and a shut-off valve assembly. The conduit assembly engages the housing assembly to form a first valve assembly that prevents fluid material from reaching a mixing location in a closed configuration and allows fluid material to reach the mixing location in an open configuration. The shut-off valve assembly comprises a valve housing and a valve member disposed within a valve chamber defined by the valve housing. When the conduit assembly is in the closed configuration, pressurized air within the valve chamber forces the valve member into a closed position against the valve housing to prevent pressurized air from reaching the mixing location. When the conduit assembly is in the open configuration, it displaces the valve member into an open position in which pressurized air can flow from the valve chamber, through the conduit assembly, and to the mixing location. When both fluid material and pressurized fluid are present at the mixing location, the pressurized fluid carries the fluid material against a surface to be coated.

摘要: A method and means for soft cooling a moving heated metal strip comprises forming a descending waterwall extending across the metal strip in a direction perpendicularly to the line of travel of the strip. Air jets, variable in angle to the vertical direction of the descending waterwall, impact the waterwall, converting it to a descending curtain of air-water mist which impinges upon an upper surface of the metal strip to effect soft cooling of the strip.

摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for atomizing liquids into a gaseous medium, in a fine, highly consistent, uniform dispersion. This pneumatic nebulizer method is designed to allow a wide range of liquids to be atomized without plugging. The process atomizes liquids directly from the surface of a body of liquid, allowing non-wetting materials to be used for the nebulizer. The liquid path does not require a narrowing of diameter at the exit area, nor along the length of the system, which minimizes plugging. The gas orifice is on or near the edge of the liquid path and may be very much smaller than the liquid path's area. The nebulizer has no suction. The liquid flow is controlled by pumping the liquid to the nebulizer. Most pneumatic nebulizer systems rely on the gas flow surrounding the liquid path, the liquid path surrounding the gas flow, or the gas flow being at right angles to the liquid flow. This nebulization process has the gas and liquid flow independently brought together, commonly alongside each other.
