    摘要： This application presents a bifurcated, optimally-angled surgical forceps. In one example, this surgical forceps may enable a more natural maneuver for initial clamping of the vas deferens through the scrotal skin. This may be more comfortable for users and easier to maintain, and may provide greater tactile surface contact between the thumb and vas deferens. This device also may provide the surgeon with an entire segment of vas deferens upon which the vasectomy may be performed, thus reducing the need for frequent repositioning of instruments. The device may also be applied to other surgical procedures that may benefit from the features of the device and where a section of a tubular anatomical structure may need clamping at two points along its length. Examples include blood and lymphatic vessels, ducts of the digestive system, and large nerves or nerve bundles.

In preferred embodiments, a clamp has a set of jaws, the distal ends of which terminate in a partial or completely circular structure that is essentially a split ring. The ring may include pointed tips structured to pierce the vas deferens. The tips engage opposing sides of the vas deferens. Various embodiments of the toothed clamps may be preferred for “open” versus “closed” vasectomies.

    摘要： A medical device and procedure is described which can be used for occluding a fallopian tube. In one implementation, the apparatus includes an elongate member, an electrode carrier and one or more conductors. The elongate member has a lumen operable to couple to a vacuum source and draw moisture way from one or more electrodes included in the electrode carrier, and a lumen configured to receive a hysteroscope. The electrode carrier includes one or more bipolar electrodes and can to couple to a radio frequency energy generator. The one or more conductors connect to a controller operable to control the delivery of radio frequency energy to the one or more bipolar electrodes. The elongate member is a substantially rigid member configured with a curve to facilitate advancement of the distal end transcervically through a uterus and into a region of a tubal ostium of a fallopian tube to be occluded.
