摘要: An ambulatory physiological evaluation system including a main and a background gamma radiation detector provided in a vestlike garment worn by a patient for the purpose of monitoring and/or diagnosing the patient's physiological activities during a prescribed period of time. Also included is an apparatus and method for determining the exact location of the left ventricle of the heart, positioning the main radiation detector relative to the left ventricle, and maintaining the position of the main radiation detector relative to the left ventricle during an ambulatory study period. The ambulatory physiological evaluation system also contains electronic circuitry which monitors and processes information obtained from the radiation detectors. Information from the main and auxiliary detectors, as well as ECG electrodes is recorded on a portable cassette recorder. After the information has been recorded over a desired period of time, the information is presented, through an interface and an analog to digital converter, to the memory of a stand alone computer located in a hospital or office. The computer calculates such items as R-R time intervals, electrocardiagram and time-activity curves, and displays these items and other physiological data for both the main and auxiliary detectors. From the calculations made by the computer, average heart rate, number of aberrant beats, left ventricular ejection fraction and relative cardiac blood volume and other values of physiological significance may be calculated for a time interval of interest.

摘要: A portable recorder has a pinch roller moved to engage a capstan, a recording head brought into a recording position and a motor to power the recorder switched on through the sliding movement of a slide assembly in engagement with the case of the recorder near a hinge between bottom and top portions of the case. The capstan is rotated about an axis substantially perpendicular to the plane of the case by a pulley arrangement driven by the motor with an axis substantially within a plane parallel to the case. The recording head is mounted to the slide assembly which includes a roller attached to the back thereof for rotating engagement with the case when it is opened and closed. Rotating movement of the roller causes the slide assembly to move back and forth within the case as the top of the case is opened and closed causing the recording head to move near or away from the tape. A spring mounted to the case and the slide assembly biases the slide assembly to a remote position when the case is opened. A roller spring attached to the slide assembly engages the pinch roller biasing it into engagement with the capstan when the case is closed but a pawl member portion of the slide assembly is adapted to engage the pinch roller and move it away from the capstan when the case is opened. A roller spring disengagement mechanism is provided to keep the roller spring from engaging the pinch roller if the case is empty when closed.

摘要: The method and system for precise time based presentation of recorded medical data, such as cardiac data, encephalographic data, fetal monitor data or the like, which has been recorded on an ordinary audio cassette tape utilizing an inexpensive presentation device. An off-the-shelf tape transport deck is utilized which operates at an actual presentation speed which varies in a linear fashion in response to variations of a control signal which do not vary by greater than a selected maximum value during a given time period and in a nonlinear fashion in response to variations of a control signal which do vary by greater than the selected maximum value during a given time period. A timing track signal is utilized to determine actual presentation speed and small variations between the desired presentation speed and the actual presentation speed are coupled to a linear control system and utilized to vary the control signal at a rate which does not exceed a first rate. Large variations between the desired presentation speed and the actual presentation speed are coupled to a nonlinear control system and utilized to vary the control signal with respect to time at a constant rate, ensuring stable operation despite the occurrence of large variations in presentation speed. An integration element is utilized in conjunction with the linear control system to induce a zero steady state error between desired presentation speed and the actual presentation speed over time while the linear control system is active.
