Abstract: A process for flushing an oligomerization reactor is described, including flushing the oligomerization reactor with a flushing medium comprising C6 linear alpha olefins, C8 linear alpha olefins, C10 linear alpha olefins, or a combination including at least one of the foregoing, to provide a purge stream comprising the C6 linear alpha olefins, C8 linear alpha olefins, C10 linear alpha olefins, or a combination including at least one of the foregoing, and a polymer byproduct of an oligomerization reaction. A process for the oligomerization of an olefin is also described, wherein the process includes oligomerizing the olefin in the reactor to form a reaction product stream comprising linear alpha olefins, and subsequently flushing the oligomerization reactor according to the process disclosed herein.

Abstract: A method for recovery of a product fraction from a mixture comprising an impurity and linear alpha olefins, the method comprising: introducing the mixture into a distillation column, wherein an overhead stream is separated from a bottom stream, wherein the overhead stream comprises a Cn product, a Cn+x product, and an impurity, wherein n is an integer from 4 to 30, wherein x is an integer from 0 to 26; directing the overhead stream into a fractionation column; and separating a Cn product fraction and a Cn+x product fraction in the fractionation column, wherein the Cn+x product fraction comprises at least a portion of the impurity, wherein, when an amount of the impurity is greater than 1 part per million in the Cn+x product fraction, at least a portion of the collected Cn+x product fraction is recycled to the distillation column.

Abstract: A method for removal of an organic amine from a hydrocarbon stream includes mixing the hydrocarbon stream including the amine with an aqueous inorganic acid in a volumetric ratio of hydrocarbon stream: aqueous inorganic acid of greater than 1.5:1 to 5:1, phase separating a hydrocarbon phase and an aqueous phase, removing the hydrocarbon phase, mixing the aqueous phase with an aqueous alkaline solution, phase separating the aqueous phase and an organic phase, and removing the organic phase. The aqueous inorganic acid has a concentration of greater than or equal to 30 weight percent. The disclosed method results in improved phase separation time during an amine removal process.
