    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described, and relate to a base station to communicating with a user equipment (UE) over a channel. A first device (for example, the base station or the UE) may use a trained neural network to estimate one or more link performance metrics associated with the channel. Predicting the link level performance may include determining one or more neural network weights associated with one or more input parameters associated with the channel to estimate the one or more link performance metrics. The first device may report feedback to the second device based on the estimated link performance metrics. Based on the feedback, the second device may adapt the link by adjusting channel parameters to improve the reliability or efficacy of later transmissions.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A receiving wireless device may determine that a data communication is scheduled for the wireless device on a channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band during a transmission opportunity (TxOP) spanning a plurality of slots. The receiving wireless device may identify a subset of slots from the plurality of slots, wherein the subset of slots is associated with a channel reservation signal by the wireless device. The receiving wireless device may receive the data communication at the wireless device during the TxOP using a beam configuration. The receiving wireless device may perform repeated transmissions of the channel reservation signal based at least in part on the beam configuration during the subset of slots and within a time period associated with receiving the data communication.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to wireless communication systems configured to share a shared spectrum with one or more other systems (e.g., other operator networks utilizing the same radio access technology, and/or other networks utilizing different radio access technologies). Coexistence between the different systems on the shared spectrum may be provided by utilizing a technology-neutral signature waveform such as a signature sequence. A device or system may monitor a shared spectrum channel for the signature waveform, and when detected, may determine whether the shared spectrum is available for that system, or busy as occupied by another system. When the shared spectrum channel is idle, the device or system may reserve the channel by transmitting the signature waveform. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to selecting a rank for wireless communications using multiple transmit antenna layers. A first effective throughput achievable using a first rank and based at least in part on a first block error rate (BLER) associated with the first rank can be estimated along with a second effective throughput achievable using a second rank and based at least in part on a second BLER associated with the second rank. The first rank or second rank is selected to be used for transmitting communications over multiple transmit antenna layers based at least in part on comparing the first effective throughput to the second effective throughput, and the selection can be indicated to a transmitting entity from which the communications over the multiple transmit antenna layers are received.

A base station may perform a channel access procedure on a shared radio frequency spectrum band using a first beam configuration. The base station may transmit, based at least in part on successful completion of the channel access procedure, a reservation request message (RRQ) to a user equipment (UE) using a second beam configuration, the second beam configuration comprising a beam width that is equal to or narrower than a beam width of the first beam configuration. The base station may receive a reservation response message (RRS) from the UE in response to the RRQ, the RRS comprising a third beam configuration that is based at least in part on the second beam configuration.
