Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for handling non-integrity protected reject messages in non-public networks. In some example embodiments, there may be provided an apparatus including at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to at least: receive, from a network function in a standalone non-public network (SNPN), a reject message, wherein information in the reject message indicates that the apparatus is not allowed to access the SNPN by subscription; and add the identity of the SNPN in a list of forbidden SNPNs associated with an access via which the apparatus sent a request and subsequently received the reject message.

Abstract: A technique includes detecting, by a user device, a network slice associated with an access attempt by the user device to access a wireless network, and making, by the user device, a barring decision for the access attempt based on the network slice associated with the access attempt. Another example technique may include receiving, by a base station from one or more core network entities within a wireless network, network slice-specific load information that indicates a load for each of one or more network slices, determining, by the base station based on the received network slice-specific load information, a barring configuration that indicates a set of barring parameters for one or more access categories, and sending, by the base station to a user device, the barring configuration to reduce a load on the wireless network.

Abstract: In some example embodiments, there may be provided a method that includes receiving, at a user equipment while being served by a first system and during protocol data unit session establishment or modification procedure, a message including an access point name aggregate maximum bit rate value; and when there is an inter-system change from the first system to the second system, setting, at the user equipment, the access point name aggregate maximum bit rate value of a session management context for the second system to the received access point name aggregate maximum bit rate value received while being served by the first system. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and computer program products for providing an enforcement mechanism for the maximum number of PDU sessions per network slice in a communication system are provided. A method, system, and apparatus may receive, from a user equipment (UE), a protocol data unit (PDU) session establishment request message and Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI) through an access network (AN). The method, system, and apparatus may cause, upon detecting that the S-NSSAI is subject to the capping number of PDU sessions per network slice, transmission of a service request message to a network slice selection function (NSSF). The service request message includes an indication indicating that the S-NSSAI is subject to a capping number of PDU sessions per network slice. The indication may cause the NSSF to increment a counter associated with PDU sessions for a network slice associated with the S-NSSAI.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product may be provided for providing always-on as an attribute of a PDU session, providing interworking aspects with respect to an always-on PDU session, and enabling network determination of whether a PDU session will be an always-on PDU session. An example method may include receiving, from UE, a PDU session establishment request message, the PDU session establishment request message comprising an always-on PDU session requested IE set to a value indicative of a request to establish a new-always on PDU session (e.g., “Always-on PDU session requested”), and upon a determination that the requested PDU session shall be established as an always-on PDU session, cause transmission of a PDU session establishment accept message, the PDU session establishment accept message comprising an always-on PDU session indication IE that is set to a value indicative of always-on PDU session required (“Always-on PDU session required”).

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product provide enhanced emergency services fallback procedures. The user equipment may indicate the emergency services fallback within the registration request message to a network entity, such as the access and mobility management function. Upon receiving the registration request message the emergency services fallback procedure is triggered. The user equipment receives an indication, such as via an access stratum layer and the received indication is considered, such as by the non-access stratum layer in the user equipment, as the registration response message. The user equipment is configured to respond differently upon receiving differently configured registration response rejection messages or upon expiration of a response timer.
