    Abstract: A method for determining an auxiliary bit of a polar code and an apparatus. At least K sub-channels are determined based on reliability of a first sub-channel set, where the K sub-channels carry information bits. S sub-channel subsets are determined based on the first sub-channel set, an ith sub-channel subset in the S sub-channel subsets includes Ji sub-channels carrying auxiliary bits and Ki sub-channels in the K sub-channels. Sequence numbers of the Ji sub-channels carrying the auxiliary bits are after sequence numbers of the Ki sub-channels. The auxiliary bits are known redundancy check RC bits. Polar encoding is performed on the information bits and the auxiliary bits, to output polar-encoded data.

    Abstract: This application relates to the field of communication technologies, and discloses an encoding method, a decoding method, and an apparatus. The method includes: obtaining an information bit sequence; and encoding the information bit sequence based on a systematic polar code, to determine an encoded bit sequence, where the systematic polar code includes N first bit positions and N second bit positions that correspond to a polarization transformation matrix, the N second bit positions include a systematic bit position set A and a non-systematic bit position set MA, the N first bit positions include a frozen bit position set B and a non-frozen bit position set MB, and A is determined based on the information bit sequence.

    Abstract: A polar encoding and decoding method and apparatus are provided. The method includes: obtaining K to-be-encoded bits; selecting K sequence numbers from a first sequence, where the to-be-encoded bits are placed on polar channels corresponding to the K sequence numbers; and performing polar code encoding on the K to-be-encoded bits to obtain encoded bits, where the first sequence includes sequence numbers of N polar channels, and the first sequence is one or a subsequence of a related sequence. This technical solution is applicable to a short message communication system of a BeiDou satellite. The method can effectively improve performance of the communication system and reduce complexity.
