Abstract:
In an audio processing system (300), a filtering section (350, 400): receives subband signals (410, 420, 430) corresponding to audio content of a reference signal (301) in respective frequency subbands; receives subband signals (411, 421, 431) corresponding to audio content of a response signal (304) in the respective subbands; and forms filtered inband references (412, 422, 432) by applying respective filters (413, 423, 433) to the subband signals of the reference signal. For a frequency subband: filtered crossband references (424, 425) are formed by multiplying, by scalar factors (426, 427), filtered inband references of other subbands; a composite filtered reference (428) is formed by summing the filtered inband reference of the subband (422) and the filtered crossband references; a residual signal (429) is computed as a difference between the composite filtered reference and the subband signal of the response signal corresponding to the subband; and the scalar factors and the filter applied to the subband signal of the reference signal corresponding to the subband are adjusted based on the residual signal.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for performing at least one audio activity (e.g., conducting a phone call or playing music or other audio content) in an environment including by determining an estimated location of a user in the environment in response to sound uttered by the user (e.g., a voice command), and controlling the audio activity in response to determining the estimated user location. The environment may have zones which are indicated by a zone map and estimation of the user location may include estimating in which of the zones the user is located. The audio activity may be performed using microphones and loudspeakers which are implemented in or coupled to smart audio devices.
Abstract:
Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to audio signal processing. A method of processing an audio signal is disclosed. The method includes detecting, based on a power distribution of the audio signal, a type of content of a frame of the audio signal, generating a first gain based on a sound level of the frame for adjusting the sound level, processing the audio signal by applying the first gain to the frame; and in response to the type of content being detected to be a breath sound, generating a second gain for mitigating the breath sound and processing the audio signal by applying the second gain to the frame. Corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for analyzing and resolving feedback caused by having multiple audio links in a conference room. An audio system may detect the presence of duplicated audio caused by multiple audio links in the conference room. Marker signals may be injected into the conference room or over the network in response to detecting the duplicated audio. Echoes of the marker signals may be received, and the system may determine which case corresponds to the detected duplicated audio based on the received echo of the marker signals. Based on the determined case, operation of at least one of the speaker and the microphone may be modified. After the modification, audio playback in the conference room may be monitored to verify that far end audio playback is taking place and that the duplicated audio has been resolved.

Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to audio signal processing. A method of indicating a presence of a nuisance in an audio signal is disclosed. The method includes determining a probability of the presence of the nuisance in a frame of the audio signal based on a feature of the audio signal, the nuisance representing an unwanted sound made by a user, in response to the probability of the presence of the nuisance exceeding a threshold, tracking the audio signal based on a metric over a plurality of frames following the frame, determining, based on the tracking, that the presence of the nuisance is to be indicated to the user, and in response to the determination, presenting to the user a notification of the presence of the nuisance. Corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A system and method for initiating conference calls with external devices are disclosed. Call participants are sent conference invitation and conference information regarding the designated conference call. This conference information is stored on the participant's external device. When the participants arrive at a conference call location having a conferencing device, the conferencing device is capable of communicating with the external device, initiating communications, exchanging conference information. If the participant is verified and/or authorized, the conference system may send the IP address of the conference device to the conference system to initiate the conference call. In one embodiment, the conference device uses an ultrasound acoustic communication band to initiate the call with the external device on a semi-automated basis. An acoustic signature comprising a pilot sequence for communications synchronization may be generated to facilitate the call. Audible and aesthetic acoustic protocols may also be employed.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a method for adaptive control of gain applied to an audio signal, including steps of analyzing segments of the signal to identify audio objects (e.g., voices of participants in a voice conference); storing information regarding each distinct identified object; using at least some of the information to determine at least one of a target gain, or a gain change rate for reaching a target gain, for each identified object; and applying gain to segments of the signal indicative of an identified object such that the gain changes (typically, at the gain change rate for the object) from an initial gain to the target gain for the object. The information stored may include a scene description. Aspects of the invention include a system configured (e.g., programmed) to perform any embodiment of the inventive method.

Abstract:
Some disclosed teleconferencing methods may involve detecting a howl state during a teleconference. The teleconference may involve two or more teleconference client locations and a teleconference server. The teleconference server may be configured for providing full-duplex audio connectivity between the teleconference client locations. The howl state may be a state of acoustic feedback involving two or more teleconference devices in a teleconference client location. Detecting the howl state may involve an analysis of both spectral and temporal characteristics of teleconference audio data. Some disclosed teleconferencing methods may involve determining which client location is causing the howl state. Some such methods may involve mitigating the howl state and/or sending a howl state detection message.
