Abstract: The present application relates to improving coverage and reliability of cellular emergency service. In an example, a relay UE is authorized by a core network to provide a U2N relay for emergency services, where this authorization is based on UE capability information sent to the core network indicating the support of U2N relay emergency functionalities. During a U2N relay discovery, the relay UE indicates, to a remote UE, that this capability can be provided. Accordingly, the remote UE selects the relay UE from a candidate set of relay UEs and a relay communication is established.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and configurations to implement trusted connections within wireless networks and associated devices and systems are generally disclosed herein. In some examples, a wireless local area network (WLAN) may be attached to a 3GPP evolved packet core (EPC) as a trusted access network, without use of an evolved packet data gateway (ePDG) and overhead from related tunneling and encryption. Information to create the trusted attachment between a mobile device and a WLAN may be exchanged using Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) extensions defined by IEEE standard 802.11u-2011, or using other protocols or standards such as DHCP or EAP. A trusted WLAN container with defined data structure fields may be transferred in the ANQP elements to exchange information used in the establishment and operation of the trusted attachment.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for protection of a user equipment (UE) parameter update (UPU) header protection. An example method can include generating, for transmission to an access and mobility management function (AMF) of a network, a first message that includes an indication as to whether a UE supports protection of a UPU header. The method can further include processing, a second message from the network from the network, the second message including UE configuration parameters comprising a UPU transparent container including a UPU header and UPU data, the UPU header protected based at least in part on the indication.

Abstract: The present application relates to user equipment (UE) aggregation. For instance, a UE aggregation group is defined based on a subscription of multiple UEs with a network. Configuration information identifying the UE aggregation group, its member UEs, the role of each UE (e.g., whether a group leader or, otherwise, a group member), and/or radio access capability signaling (RACS) is stored. Upon a registration of a UE, the UE aggregation group is indicated to the network. The network then enables an aggregated communication capability to the UEs of the UE aggregation group based on the configuration information.
