Abstract:
A self-service terminal (10) comprising a user interface (14) including a display (30) is described. The display has a display area (80) for presenting financial information to a user (12). The terminal (10), which may be an ATM, comprises: a sensor (16) for sensing people in the vicinity of the terminal (10), and means (74) for confining transaction information to a sub-portion (84) of the display area in response to the sensor (16) sensing people in the vicinity of the terminal (10). A method of improving privacy on a self-service terminal is also described.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for determining if an optical disk originated from a valid source, the method and apparatus scanning one major surface of the optical disk for imperfections, storing the locations of the imperfections relative to a datum, comparing a parameter of each of the locations of the imperfections with corresponding parameters of a master disk of known source for determining if the disk originated from the source from which the master disk originated.
Abstract:
An electromagnetic motor system with no counter/back electromotive force due to the ability of the system to change from one magnetic state to another magnetic state in a defined sequence. In the first state a kinetic energy component is added to the system's rotor where two permanent magnetic materials, which are affixed to the rotor, are allowed to come into an angular range such that they act in a symmetrical manner on a fixed soft ferromagnetic material. This fixed soft ferromagnetic material also acts as the core of an electromagnetic coil and when the rotor's permanent magnets are at the closest proximity to the soft ferromagnetic core a voltage is applied across the coil, resulting in the soft ferromagnetic coil being saturated in a horizontal manner where previously it was polarized in a vertical manner while under the influence of the rotor's two permanent magnets.
Abstract:
An electromagnetic system consists of an electric circuit comprising two solenoids wired in series, one mounted either side and proximate to a toroid. Voltage is applied across the toroid and the solenoids in a specific sequence which alters the inductance behaviour of the system, resulting in an inductance gain and no mutual inductance between the toroid and the two solenoids.

Diagnostic, screening and therapeutic methods utilizing compositions of the invention are also provided.
Abstract:
A coaxial cable connector assembly includes a coaxial cable comprising a conductive braid, and a primary shield coupled to the cable and in electrical contact with the conductive braid. The primary shield defines a three sided enclosure surrounding the cable, and a secondary shield defines at least a portion of a fourth side of said enclosure and is electrically connected to the conductive braid.

In addition to isolated, full-length Dkk and Dkk-related proteins, the invention further provides isolated fusion proteins, antigenic peptides and antibodies. The invention also provides Dkk and Dkk-related nucleic acid molecules, recombinant expression vectors containing a nucleic acid molecule of the invention, host cells into which the expression vectors have been introduced and non-human transgenic animals in which a Dkk and Dkk-related gene has been introduced or disrupted. Diagnostic, screening and therapeutic methods utilizing compositions of the invention are also provided.
Abstract:
A system, a method, and computer readable medium for storing and displaying user-selected returned goods information for a retailer having a plurality of stores and a plurality of vendors. The system, method and computer readable medium includes a computer database of returned goods information for a retailer having a plurality of stores and a plurality of vendors. A user interface receives at least one condition for displaying user-selected returned goods information for one or more of the plurality of stores or one or more of the plurality of vendors. The system, method and computer readable medium determines whether the condition for displaying the returned goods information is satisfied for each of the plurality of stores and each of the plurality of vendors. The system, method and computer readable medium displays returned goods information for which the condition is met for each of the plurality of stores and each of the plurality of vendors.
Abstract:
A system, a method, and computer readable medium for threshold billing of returned items. Billing threshold rules are established and stored in a computer memory and are associated with returned items. A returned item is identified and a computer processor determines if a billing threshold rule has been associated with the returned item. If so, the processor assigns the returned item to a container based on a billing threshold rule associated with the returned item. Information indicating the container to which the returned item has been assigned is stored in the computer memory. The processor determines if the billing threshold amount for the returned item has been reached. If so, the processor determines the status of the container to which the returned item has been assigned. If the container to which the returned item has been assigned is not closed, the processor generates a notification to physically close the container and also generates an invoice to the product vendor for the returned items for which the billing threshold amount has been reached.
