摘要:
Methods and systems for creating, reading, and writing compressed files in a computer system comprising a file system coupled with storage medium and at least one application program interface (API) configured to communicate with the file system by means of file access-related requests are provided. The file access-related requests are intercepted in order to provide at least one of the following: a) to derive and compress data corresponding to the intercepted file access request and to facilitate storing the compressed data at the storage medium as a compressed file; b) to facilitate restoring at least part of compressed data corresponding to the intercepted file request and communicating the resulting data through the API. The compressed files comprise plurality of compressed units. One or more corresponding compressed units may be read and/or updated with no need of restoring the entire file whilst maintaining de-fragmented structure of the compressed file.

Methods and systems for creating, reading, and writing compressed data for use with a block mode access storage. The compressed data are packed into a plurality of compressed units and stored in a storage logical unit (LU). One or more corresponding compressed units may be read and/or updated with no need of restoring the entire storage logical unit while maintaining a de-fragmented structure of the LU.

Apparatus for use with skin of a subject is provided, including a mount, a first zone of which is adhesively adherable to the skin. A second zone is not adhesively adherable to the skin. The mount is disposable in one shape and in another shape, at least one of the shapes being an unconstrained shape, the mount being deformable from the one shape to the other shape in response to application of a deforming force to the mount. When the mount moves toward the unconstrained shape, the movement is sudden regardless of a speed of application of the deforming force prior to the sudden movement. A treatment unit is provided, coupled to the mount, positioned with respect to the mount such that the treatment unit is moved into a position to apply a treatment to the subject by the mount moving toward the unconstrained shape. Other applications are also described.

Apparatus and methods are described for cutting a hole in a nail of a subject. The apparatus includes an element having a nail-contacting cutting surface for contacting the subject's nail. A control unit is configured to generate a hole in the subject's nail by moving the nail-contacting surface in a back-and-forth motion, while the nail-contacting surface is in contact with the subject's nail. Other applications are also described.

A network probe terminal for surveillance of a network communication line and simulating browser activity of a given terminal is disclosed. The probe terminal monitors TCP/IP data packets routed through the communication line and filters relevant requests and responses relating to a given IP address. These requests and responses are analyzed and sorted according to their type and content. Based on the analysis, the probe terminal identifies all relevant data transactions relating to the navigation process of a given terminal. The probe terminal activates a virtual browser simulating the processing of identified data transactions to create navigation presentations similar to the navigation presentations as seen by the user of a given terminal.

A device for effecting relative motion of movable components of a product within a closed sales display package translates a force exerted in one direction so that the force is applied in a second direction through buckling of a motion spring. The motion spring is two-dimensional, i.e., flat, and is oriented so that its flat surfaces face the direction of motion and so that its top and bottom edges are secured to opposite sides of a sales package. Pressure that is exerted vertically on the top and bottom edges of the spring causes the spring to buckle about a horizontal axis, thereby deflecting the flat surface of the spring in a horizontal direction that is perpendicular to both the vertical direction of force and the horizontal buckling axis. The motion spring is secured at its top and bottom vertical edges to the front and back, respectively, of the sales package. When the spring is to be used in conjunction with the rotatable toothbrush of U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,120,225 and 5,186,627, the spring is secured to the toothbrush by supporting the toothbrush handle around its periphery. Exerting force vertically on the spring through the sales package creates buckling and deflection of the area of the spring secured to the toothbrush handle, thereby moving the handle in the direction of deflection of the spring, which is longitudinally with the respect to the toothbrush handle. Release of the vertical force will allow the motion spring to relax so that the toothbrush handle can be returned longitudinally to its original position.
