    Abstract: There is provided a method for processing communications in a telephony network. The method includes configuring a first telephony identifier for communication with a first user and a second user, and a second telephony identity for communication with the second user, each of the telephony identifiers being configured for use as different destination addresses in different SMS messages sent to the second user. The method includes processing at least one SMS message in SMS processing equipment in the network, and during this processing, performing identity management, in relation to the use of the first and second telephony identifiers for the second user.

    Abstract: Processing signalling relating to a telephony session. A first telephony session establishment request relating to the telephony session is received. The first telephony session establishment request comprises a first telephony identifier as a calling party identifier. The first telephony identifier is replaced with a second telephony identifier. Call processing relating to the telephony session is enabled to be performed based on the second telephony identifier.     Abstract: A network function operable in a communication network, in which the network function is configured to receive a call setup request from an emergency service to set up a call between the emergency service and a user terminal, the received call setup request comprising a called party identifier. The network function determines whether the called party identifier is of a first type or of a second, different type, wherein the first type of called party identifier comprises a dialable number temporarily associated with the user terminal for use in receiving a call from the emergency service. In response to determining that the called party identifier is of the first type, the network function transmits priority indication data to a further network function in the communication network in order to cause the further network function to prioritize handling of the call between the emergency service and the user terminal.

    Abstract: Measures to control telecommunications network equipment are provided. Signalling associated with establishment of a media communications session involving first and second endpoints is received. A first endpoint identifier associated with the first endpoint and a second endpoint identifier associated with the second endpoint are identified based on the signalling. It is determined whether or not to attempt media bypass between the first and second endpoints based on a comparison involving a first portion of the first endpoint identifier and a second portion of the second endpoint identifier. In response to determining that media bypass is to be attempted between the first and second endpoints, an attempt is made to cause media data for the media session to be communicated directly between the first and second endpoints.

    Abstract: Measures for use in operating a subscriber device in a network. An audio call communication session is conducted between the subscriber device and an audio call client of a remote user device. The audio call communication session includes the transfer of audio data between the subscriber device and the audio call client of the remote user device. During the audio call communication session, transmittal, to a user interface associated with a user of the remote user device, of information associated with switching communication from the audio call client of the remote user device to a web browser client is caused. A real-time media data communication session is established between the subscriber device and the web browser client. Real-time media data is transferred between the subscriber device and the web browser client instead of audio data between the subscriber device and the audio call client of the remote user device.

    Abstract: Processing data in a communications system comprising a plurality of servers is provided. First data received from a communications device is directed to a given server in the plurality of servers. A server identifier identifying the given server is transmitted to the communications device. Subsequent data is received from the communications device. The subsequent data comprises the server identifier and a further parameter. The given server is selected on the basis of at least the server identifier and some of the subsequent data received from the communications device is directed to the given server. In the event of a need to redirect subsequent data to a server other than the given server, a different server is selected on the basis of at least the further parameter and further of the subsequent data received from the communications device is directed to the selected different server.

At a network switching device, a data packet is received from a device located upstream of the network switching device. The received data packet comprises routing data associated with a routing decision which has been taken for the data packet upstream of the network switching device. The routing data comprises an abstract media access control (MAC) address corresponding to a next hop destination for the data packet located downstream of the network switching device. At the network switching device, the abstract MAC address in the data packet is replaced with a real MAC address of the next hop downstream destination. At the network switching device, the data packet is forwarded towards the next hop downstream destination.
