Abstract: Light-permeable multilayer composite film made of plastic as the surface coating of an article, wherein the composite film comprises at least one outer, at least partially light-permeable top layer optionally provided with a lacquer and at least one further layer arranged on the back of the top layer, wherein arranged on the back side of the top layer is at least one sheetlike, optically active textile layer, preferably a textile layer comprising threads made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and/or made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), wherein the textile layer has light-transmitting, light-refracting and light-reflecting properties or a combination thereof and the transmission, refraction and reflection properties are such that illumination of the textile layer, in particular back side illumination of the textile layer, results in preferably uniformized light transmission through the top layer.

Abstract: A method of protecting an outdoor surface includes providing an outdoor surface and providing a single flexible vinyl membrane having a polyvinyl chloride upper layer with a thickness of from 0.02 inches to 0.06 inches and a polyethylene terephthalate nonwoven fabric lower layer having a weight of from 2 ounces/yard2 to 6 ounces/yard2. The single flexible vinyl membrane is installed by covering the outdoor surface with the single flexible vinyl membrane and affixing the single flexible vinyl membrane to the outdoor surface, and the single flexible vinyl membrane is installable onto the outdoor surface by a single individual. In some cases, the single flexible vinyl membrane is not installed by hot air welding. The single flexible vinyl membrane may further be trimmed to a shape similar to, or like the shape of the outdoor surface.

Abstract: A method for making a plastic film having a three-dimensionally structured and colored surface includes the steps of: providing the film with a three-dimensional surface structure via a shaping process; determining the provided topography of the film surface via a scanning process; and, applying a coloring to the surface after the topography of the surface has been determined. A device configured to apply the coloring to the surface is controlled such that the application of the coloring to the surface is changeable in dependence upon at least one of topological data of the surface and macroscopic shapes of the surface.

Abstract: A method for producing a multi-layer plastic film comprising at least one compact cover layer and at least one layer which is arranged under the cover layer and made of extruded foamed plastic (foam layer), wherein the compact cover layer is connected to the foam layer thermally or by adhesion after extrusion and cooling of the foam layer to below the melting temperature. The layer made of foamed plastic is generated by blowing a propellent which is under positive pressure into a plastic melt during the extrusion process and by subsequently relaxing the propellent which is under positive pressure, wherein the foamed plastic is at first not cross-linked and is cross-linked together with the compact cover layer, in particular by high-energy radiation, only after the foam layer and the compact cover layer have been connected.

Abstract: A floating cover sheet of a liquid reservoir is configured to rest on the liquid surface and includes a plurality of elongated sheet panels each defining edges and a lower region. The sheet panels are connected to one another and each of the sheet panels has a buoyant carrier sheet disposed in the lower region thereof.
