摘要： An improved shaver cutter head, including an outer cutter, an inner cutter mounted within the outer cutter, and means for moving the inner cutter within the outer cutter in a predetermined path of travel. Each of the cutters has a hairshearing first wall portion, the first wall portion of the mounted inner cutter being urged into engagement with the first wall portion of the outer cutter for shearing hair as the inner cutter is moved in said predetermined path of travel within the outer cutter. The outer cutter also has opposed, non-hairshearing, second and third wall portions, respectively depending from the first wall portion of the outer cutter. The second wall portion is provided with an aperture, and the third wall portion is oriented to extend in the direction of movement of the inner cutter within the outer cutter. A resilient member disposed adjacent to the outer cutter''s second wall portion, extends through the aperture therein and urges the moving inner cutter into sliding engagement with the third wall portion of the outer cutter. As a result, the moving inner cutter is directly guided by the third wall portion in the aforesaid predetermined path of travel.

摘要： Variable illumination apparatus includes means for closely controlling the voltage to a lamp so that low values of illumination can be readily adjusted. The frequency of an astable multivibrator is adjusted through a potentiometer coupling the astable multivibrator to a voltage source. Each pulse from the astable multivibrator drives a monostable multivibrator into its quasi-stable state. The time that the monostable multivibrator remains in the quasi-stable state is adjusted by the same potentiometer that adjusts the frequency of the astable multivibrator in such a way that the quasi-stable time duration increases as the pulse repetition rate of the astable multivibrator increases. The circuit is proportioned so that the quasi-stable pulse duration is longer than the pulse repetition period of the astable multivibrator when the astable multivibrator is operating at its maximum rate, so that under these conditions the monostable multivibrator is clamped in its quasi-stable state. The load is taken from the complementary output terminal of the monostable multivibrator so that lamp voltage decreases to zero as the repetition rate and pulse duration is increased.

摘要： There is disclosed herein a memory disc file arrangement for use with a movable head assembly wherein the bottom-most disc is divided into a plurality of visible sector marks arranged around the periphery. One additional visible mark called the index is additionally provided and is located near the last sector mark. Both the index and sector marks are sensed optically. There is also disclosed a technique for determining when the speed of the disc has reached a first predetermined level which is below full speed. This first speed level is able to sustain the aerodynamic characteristics of the flying magnetic heads which are used in conjunction with the disc. The technique also enables the disc speed to be detected when it falls to a second predetermined level which is below the first level. The second speed level is not able to sustain the aerodynamic characteristics of the heads. The first and second speed determinations are utilized to produce signals for engaging and retracting the flying heads, respectively.

摘要： High frequency diodes are manufactured by methods in which extended dual mesas are formed upon a conductive substrate, one mesa incorporating the active junction and the other supporting the active mesa in reduced parasitic capacitive relation, with the substrate supporting the combination of mesas and with an efficient heat sink cooperating with the active mesa. Novel ringshaped diodes made according to the method feature a high degree of circular symmetry and therefore freedom from burn out, thermal compression bonding being used to perfect the bond between the active mesa and a diamond heat sink. Symmetry of the diode is assured by use of a novel photoresist mask generation technique.
