Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes transmitting a first signal to indicate accessing a first channel in a radio frequency spectrum band, and transmitting information with the first signal in the radio frequency spectrum band. A second method includes winning contention to access a radio frequency spectrum band, and after the winning contention to access the radio frequency spectrum band, transmitting a first signal to align a starting point of a second signal with a reference boundary associated with the radio frequency spectrum band. A third method includes winning contention to access a radio frequency spectrum band during a first frame period, the first frame selected from a plurality of different frame periods, and transmitting a signal at a periodicity during one or more subframes of the first frame period for each of the plurality of different frame periods.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that relate to a two-step random access procedure. Generally, the described techniques allow different configurations for a first message of a random access procedure depending on a connected-state of the user equipment (UE) performing the random access procedure. A base station may transmit configuration information to the UE and the UE may use the configuration information to determine resources, coding, block size, or other factors for transmitting the first message based on the radio resource control (RRC) connected state of the UE. The UE may then monitor for a random access response from the base station based on the first message from the UE.

Abstract: Signaling strategies for an advanced receiver with interference cancellation (IC) and suppression is discussed. Upon enablement of an advanced interference cancellation procedure according to the disclosure, transmitters within the enabled area transmit according to transmission restriction configurations that provide transmission limits based on either frequency, time, or scheduling. The restrictions on the transmitters reduces the complexity of processing by neighboring advanced receivers for cancellation of interference from the restricted transmitters. At the advanced receiver, transmission information, such as scheduling, reference signal (RS), resource block (RB) allocation, and the like, may either be determined through blind detection or received directly through signaling. The advanced receiver may use this transmission information associated with each interfering signal to detect, decode, and subtract the interfering signals from the received transmissions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive an indication from a base station to transmit one or more sounding reference signals (SRSs) on respective component carriers (CCs). Each CC may be associated with a different numerology and the UE may determine a transmission timing between reception of the indication and transmission of each of the SRSs based on the numerology for the CC used for transmission. In some cases, the UE may determine the transmission timings based on time durations associated with each numerology, which may be based on a number of symbols for the numerology, a corresponding time between receiving the indication and transmitting uplink data (e.g., SRS), or a combination thereof. The UE may transmit, to the base station, each SRS according to the determined transmission timings.

A first user equipment receives a preemption indication from a base station. The preemption indication is for reallocating resources allocated for communication between the first user equipment and the base station and for sidelink communication between the first user equipment and a second user equipment. Based on the preemption indication, the first user equipment reallocates the resources for the communication between the first user equipment and the base station. Based on the preemption indication, the first user equipment reallocates the resources for the sidelink communication between the first user equipment and the second user equipment.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems may support communication between a base station and a user equipment (UE) during transmission time intervals (TTIs) having different lengths. The techniques described herein allow a UE to utilize appropriate configurations for communicating during a shortened TTI (sTTI) allocated for uplink communication (e.g., uplink control information transmissions). In one example, the UE may adjust a transmit power to use for transmitting uplink control information during an sTTI based on the length of the sTTI or based on the number of symbols allocated for transmitting the uplink control information in the sTTI. In another example, the UE may determine a frequency hopping pattern to use for transmitting uplink control information during an sTTI based on whether a portion of the sTTI is allocated for another transmission (e.g., a sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission).
