Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support techniques for wireless communications using preconfigured uplink resources. Generally, the described techniques provide for enhancement of communication features including frequency hopping, an uplink control channel, coverage enhancement, timing advance, uplink power control, reconfiguration, a downlink control channel, a downlink data channel, retransmissions, or subcarrier spacing for a UE in idle mode. The UE may receive an uplink resource configuration for uplink communications in idle mode, the uplink resource configuration comprising an indicator associated with allocated resources for the uplink communications in idle mode and a set of parameters. The UE may transmit, while in idle mode, a first uplink transmission associated with a transport block on the allocated resources and according to one or more of the parameters, and monitor for a response to the first uplink transmission.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for resource selection supporting user equipment (UE)-shared multicast feedback. In some systems, a UE and a base station may support multicast communications. The base station may configure a set of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources that the UE may use for multicast feedback messages. The base station may transmit an indication of the set of PUCCH resources to the UE, and the UE may determine to use a PUCCH resource of the set of PUCCH resources based on one or more indications from the base station. The UE may fail to receive a multicast message from the base station and may transmit a UE-shared negative acknowledgment (NACK) feedback message. The base station may re-transmit the multicast message according to a set of transmission parameters that is based on which PUCCH resource was used by one or more UEs for multicast NACK feedback.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support control of feedback reporting associated with broadcast or multicast transmissions based on indications of non-numerical K1 (NNK1) in associated transmission grants. In aspects, a base station transmits multicast transmission grants that include NNK1s to a set of UEs. The UEs in the set of UEs generate feedback codebooks, for the multicast transmissions, and holds transmission of the codebooks, based on the NNK1 received in the transmission grants until a report triggering event occurs. In aspects, the report triggering event includes receiving a subsequent multicast transmission grant with a valid K1, receiving a subsequent unicast transmission grant with valid K1, or receiving a UE-specific multicast retransmission grant. In aspects, the UEs use the valid K1 in the triggering event to determine a feedback resource to transmit the held feedback codebooks. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: In embodiments of systems and methods for managing control signaling for multicast communications, a base station may transmit to a wireless device an indication of whether to monitor a group common physical downlink control channel (GC PDCCH), a wireless device-specific PDCCH for multicast configuration information, or both. The base station may determine a schedule for transmitting multicast communications to the wireless device based on a capability reported by the wireless device, and may transmit to the wireless device an indication of whether a transport block for GC multicast communications including services for multicast communications will be scheduled by the GC PDCCH, the wireless device-specific PDCCH, or both. The base station may transmit, and the wireless device may receive, the multicast communications according to the multicast configuration information and the schedule.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A receiving device may use enhanced techniques for determining whether a transmission is scheduled to include new data when a mode for reporting acknowledgment feedback is disabled for one or more hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes used by the receiving device. An enhanced technique may include increasing a quantity of bits used to convey an indication of whether a scheduled data transmission includes new data. An enhanced technique may include monitoring a duration between transmissions scheduled by different control messages based on a timing parameter that indicates a maximum time between transmissions of a data set and corresponding transmission including the data set.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may measure a physical channel such as a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH) to supplement (e.g., or as an alternative to) reference signal measurements when determining a received signal measurement, such as a received signal strength or received signal quality of a cell. A base station may transmit an indication to a UE that identifies the frequency at which a portion of NPBCH transmissions (e.g., reserved fields of a master information block (MIB)) is expected to change from one NPBCH transmission to another. The UE may adjust its utilization of NPBCH for determining the received signal measurement based on the indication. Further, the UE may communicate with the cell based on the determination of the received signal measurement, which are based on the indication.

Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for managing resource allocation in wireless communications. In an aspect, the method includes identifying a system bandwidth for communications, identifying a downlink control information (DCI) format, determining one or more resource indication values (RIVs), and performing resource allocation based on the identified system bandwidth, the identified DCI format, and the one or more determined RIVs. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) communications technology.
