    Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, and apparatus for wireless communication are described that relate to transmission of a set of precoded reference signals, and using a physical resource group (PRG) size for the resources carrying the set of reference signals for channel estimation at a user equipment (UE). For example, a base station may apply a precoding matrix to a set of reference signals, and the reference signals may be configured on a set of resources. In such cases, the resources including these reference signals having a same precoding may be included in a PRG, and a size of the PRG may refer to a number of precoded reference signals for which the precoding is the same. Based on the received reference signals and the PRG size the UE may perform channel estimation based on the PRG size and transmit channel state information (CSI) to the base station.

    Abstract: In an example, a method of wireless communication of a base station may include assigning, by the base station, one or more resources to a group comprising a plurality of UEs that includes a first UE. The method may include receiving, by the base station from the first UE, a message on the one or more assigned resources. The message may include a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled with a group identifier for the group comprising the plurality of UEs. The message may include an indication of a UE identifier for the first UE within the group. The message may include a DMRS, where the indication of the UE identifier is represented by a sequence of the DMRS.

    Abstract: A hybrid class B channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) scheme is discussed which configures one cell-common beamformed CSI-RS resource for beam tracking and another UE-specific beamformed CSI-RS resource for CSI feedback. The cell-common beamformed CSI-RS resource may be transmitted at a longer periodicity and shared by user equipments (UEs) in the cell. The beamforming may be cycled over a set of predefined weights transparent to UE. The UE-specific beamformed CSI-RS may be transmitted at a shorter periodicity and can be activated dynamically to allow resource sharing among multiple UEs. The UEs will report a CSI for the cell-common beamformed CSI-RS resource which provides a quality indicator for the associated cell-common beam and is utilized by the base station to determine the precoding weight for the UE-specific beamformed CSI-RS resource. Both resources can be configured with different parameter sets, such as number of ports, codebook type, and CSI reporting parameters.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to methods and apparatus for dynamic frozen polar codes, for example, for control channels. An exemplary method may be performed at the encoder. The method generally includes encoding a stream of bits using a polar code. The encoding includes selecting a first set of channel indices for encoding information bits. The encoding includes selecting a second set of the channel indices smaller than a channel index for a first information bit for encoding fixed frozen bits. The encoding includes selecting remaining channel indices for dynamic frozen (PCF) bits having values based on one or more of the information bits. The method includes transmitting the encoded stream of bits.

    Abstract: Comb adaptation for interlaced frequency division multiplex (IFDM) demodulation reference signals (DMRS) is discussed. Transmission configuration for DMRS may be assigned to UEs with a coded combination of cyclic shift, OCC, and comb value. Some assigned combinations provide for a different comb value to be used for the different slots in the same subframe. Further aspects provide additional interference randomization through comb shifting, using inter-subframe hopping functions. Additionally, where retransmissions are present without uplink grant, the UE may select comb values for retransmissions based on the counter number for the retransmissions, which are different than the comb values used for the original DMRS transmissions.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) (e.g., an enhanced machine type communication (EMTC) UE) may identify several narrowbands associated with eMTC protocol based on a system bandwidth of a New Radio (NR) carrier. A base station may transmit an indication of a set of valid narrowbands for eMTC (e.g., based on coexistence considerations between eMTC and NR) to the UE. The base station may further transmit a frequency hopping pattern to the UE (e.g., associated with narrowbands within the set of valid narrowbands), and transmit one or more downlink transmissions according to the frequency hopping pattern. Additionally or alternatively, a base station may identify a subcarrier offset and/or resource block offset between resources (e.g., a resource grid) used for eMTC protocol and resources used for NR. The base station may transmit a frequency alignment parameter to the UE, and the UE may align narrowbands for eMTC accordingly.
