    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques may enable a first wireless device (e.g., a parent node) to transmit a control message to a second wireless device (e.g., a child node). The control message may include a resource reservation for communication with the second wireless device. The second wireless device may receive the control message and may transmit an acknowledgment message acknowledging successful reception of the resource reservation. The first wireless device may monitor for the acknowledgment message and may communicate with the second wireless device based on whether the acknowledgment message is received. For example, if the first wireless device receives feedback acknowledging successful reception of the resource reservation at the second wireless device, the devices may communicate data in the reserved resources. Otherwise, the first wireless device may retransmit a control message if the first control message was not successfully received.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, are directed to configuration of a beamforming vector using an estimated covariance matrix, which may reduce latency commensurate with a beam training procedure. An apparatus may receive, from another apparatus, information indicating a configured subset of a set of TX beams at the other apparatus. The other apparatus may transmit pilot signals via the configured subset of the set of TX beams. The apparatus may transmit, to the other apparatus, information associated with the set of beam pairs of the apparatus and the other apparatus. The apparatus may estimate a channel covariance matrix using the accumulated signal strength value, and may calculate a beamforming vector from the channel covariance matrix. The apparatus and the other apparatus may perform a beam training procedure using respective beamforming vectors.

In some aspects, a device may receive serving beam information associated with a plurality of wireless communication devices. The device may generate an interference model based at least in part on the serving beam information associated with the plurality of wireless communication devices, the interference model indicating locations of one or more clusters in a channel environment. The device may obtain, using the interference model, information associated with an interference prediction for a transmitting wireless communication device.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a wireless communications system may support group channel quality indicator (CQI) reporting. For example, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, signaling indicating a group of component carriers (CCs) and one or more subbands within the group of CCs. The UE may receive one or more reference signals within the one or more subbands and determine a group CQI index corresponding to the group of CCs based at least in part on the one or more reference signals. The UE may then transmit a report to the base station indicating the group CQI index and the base station may determine a CQI index for each of the one or more subbands based on the group CQI index.

Some wireless communications systems may support methods for selection of antenna arrays and beamforming feedback. In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may monitor for an antenna blockage condition at the UE and may select a set of antenna arrays for the UE for communications between the UE and a network entity based at least in part on whether the antenna blockage condition is detected, the set of antenna arrays selected from a multiple predetermined sets of antenna arrays of the UE. Additionally, the UE may transmit, to the network entity, a message indicative of whether the antenna blockage condition is detected and may communicate with the network entity using the set of antenna arrays in accordance with whether the antenna blockage condition is detected.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for wireless communication. Various aspects support beam switching and changing antenna array configurations for communicating in a near field range. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a beam group indicator to a network entity, and the UE and the network entity may perform beam switching operations associated with switch communication beams in association with changes to a distance between the UE and the network entity. In some such examples, the beam switching may switch from using beam weights for communications in a far field range to beam weights for communications in a near field range. Additionally or alternatively, the network entity may change configurations of an antenna array used to communicate with the UE in association with changes to the distance. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
