Abstract: In an example, a method of decoding video data includes selecting a motion information derivation mode from a plurality of motion information derivation modes for determining motion information for a current block, where each motion information derivation mode of the plurality comprises performing a motion search for a first set of reference data that corresponds to a second set of reference data outside of the current block, and where the motion information indicates motion of the current block relative to reference video data. The method also includes determining the motion information for the current block using the selected motion information derivation mode. The method also includes decoding the current block using the determined motion information and without decoding syntax elements representative of the motion information.

Abstract: Techniques for encapsulating video streams containing multiple coded views in a media file are described herein. In one example, a method includes parsing a track of multiview video data, wherein the track includes at least one depth view. The method further includes parsing information to determine a spatial resolution associated with the depth view, wherein decoding the spatial resolution does not require parsing of a sequence parameter set of the depth view. Another example method includes composing a track of multiview video data, wherein the track includes the one or more views. The example method further includes composing information to indicate a spatial resolution associated with the depth view, wherein decoding the spatial resolution does not require parsing of a sequence parameter set of the depth view.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus configured to code video data includes a processor and a memory unit. The memory unit stores video data associated with a first layer having a first spatial resolution and a second layer having a second spatial resolution. The video data associated with the first layer includes at least a first layer block and first layer prediction mode information associated with the first layer block, and the first layer block includes a plurality of sub-blocks where each sub-block is associated with respective prediction mode data of the first layer prediction mode information. The processor derives the predication mode data associated with one of the plurality of sub-blocks based at least on a selection rule, upsamples the derived prediction mode data and the first layer block, and associates the upsampled prediction mode data with each upsampled sub-block of the upsampled first layer block.

A list of output layer sets in a video bitstream is received, and an index to at least one target output layer set in the list of output layer sets is received. Next, target output layers in the at least one target output layer set is determined based on the index. At least the target output layers from the video bitstream are decoded. Then, the decoded target output layers are output without outputting layers that are not targeted for output.

Abstract: A video coder may perform a simplified depth coding (SDC) mode, including simplified residual coding, to code a depth block according to any of a variety of, e.g., at least three, depth intra prediction modes. For example, the video coder may perform the SDC mode for coding a depth block according to depth modeling mode (DMM) 3, DMM 4, or a region boundary chain coding mode. In such examples, the video coder may partition the depth block, and code respective DC residual values for each partition. In some examples, the video coder may perform the SDC mode for coding a depth block according to an intra prediction mode, e.g., an HEVC base specification intra prediction mode, such as a DC intra prediction mode or one of the directional intra prediction modes. In such examples, the video coder may code a single DC residual value for the depth block.

Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for maintaining lost blob trackers for one or more video frames. In some examples, one or more blob trackers maintained for a sequence of video frames are identified. The one or more blob trackers are associated with one or more blobs of the sequence of video frames. A transition of a blob tracker from a first type of tracker to a lost tracker is detected at a first video frame. For example, the blob tracker can be transitioned from the first type of tracker to the lost tracker when a blob for which the blob tracker was associated with in a previous frame is not detected in the first video frame. A recovery duration is determined for the lost tracker at the first video frame. For one or more subsequent video frames obtained after the first video frame, the lost tracker is removed from the one or more blob trackers maintained for the sequence of video frames when a lost duration for the lost tracker is greater than the recovery duration. The blob tracker can be transitioned back to the first type of tracker if the lost tracker is associated with a blob in a subsequent video frame prior to expiration of the recovery duration. Trackers and associated blobs are output as identified blob tracker-blob pairs when the trackers are converted from new trackers to trackers of the first type.

The method further includes coding the current block based on the motion information and the illumination compensation status for the current block. In some examples, the method further includes determining the motion information for the current block based on motion information of a candidate block. In such examples, the method further includes determining an illumination compensation status of the candidate block and deriving the illumination compensation status for the current block based on the illumination compensation status of the candidate block.

Abstract: In an example, a method of coding video data includes determining, for a first block of video data in a first layer of video data, a temporal motion vector and associated temporal reference picture for predicting the first block, where the temporal reference picture has a picture order count value. The method also includes determining a disparity reference block in a disparity reference picture indicated by a disparity vector associated with the first block, and determining whether a decoded picture buffer contains a temporal-disparity reference picture in the second view and having the picture order count value of the temporal reference picture. When the decoded picture buffer does not contain a temporal-disparity reference picture in the second view and having the picture order count value of the temporal reference picture, the method includes modifying an inter-view residual prediction process for predicting residual data of the first block.

Abstract: A computing device may obtain, from a first bitstream that includes a coded representation of the video data, a Supplemental Enhancement Information (SEI) message that includes an indication of an extraction mode that was used to produce the first bitstream. If the extraction mode is the first extraction mode, the first bitstream includes one or more coded pictures not needed for correct decoding of the target output layer set. If the extraction mode is the second extraction mode, the first bitstream does not include the one or more coded pictures not needed for correct decoding of the target output layer set.
