Abstract: Channel state information (CSI) and acknowledgement (ACK) reporting enhancements in Long Term Evolution (LTE)/LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) enabling communications over an unlicensed spectrum are disclosed. For example, ACK/NAK may include unlicensed spectrum interference information, such as WIFI interference. Additionally, in anticipation of a future downlink transmission, UEs may report WiFI interference to base stations absent a current downlink transmission. Also, CSI-RS and/or IMR resources may be staggered across subframes and/or within slots of subframes. Further, CSI reporting may include separate reports for CSI-RS resources that experience unlicensed spectrum interference and interference free CSI-RS resources. Still further, CSI reports may include a request to the base station to switch the current channel or band. Finally, inter-RAT ACK and CSI reporting may be provided on a second unlicensed spectrum band, such as a WIFI band, for a first unlicensed spectrum band, such as an LTE/LTE-A unlicensed band.

Abstract: Techniques for performing listen before talk (LBT) procedures in networks having multiple channels within a shared radio frequency spectrum band are provided. These techniques may include determining a contention window size for a first LBT procedure to access a first channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band, which may then be applied as the contention window size for a second LBT procedure to access a second channel of the shared radio frequency spectrum band. The contention window size may be determined based at least in part on one or more of a service priority or a channel type for data to be transmitted using the first channel. Performing the first LBT procedure may include determining that a recipient base station has reserved the first channel and the second channel, and performing the second LBT procedure for the second channel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting preamble transmissions to maintain synchronization with other network entities operating in an unlicensed spectrum during wireless communications are described. The method and apparatus include accessing, by a second node, a contention-based medium currently accessed by a first node transmitting a first burst of data. The method and apparatus further include transmitting, by the second node, a second burst of data over the accessed medium, the second burst of data having an associated preamble configured not to interfere with a joint transmission portion of the first burst of data. The first and second nodes may be enhanced-multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) nodes. Moreover, the joint transmission portion of the first burst of data may include transmission of one or more multicast-broadcast single-frequency network (MBSFN) subframes.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a downlink transmission in a radio frequency spectrum band and may identify reference resources in the downlink transmission for computing a channel state information (CSI) report. The UE may generate the CSI report based at least in part on the identified reference resources and transmit, in the radio frequency spectrum band, the CSI report in a random access request message to the base station. The base station may receive the request message and identify CSI associated with the band based at least in part on the CSI report included in the random access request message. The base station may transmit, to the UE, a random access response message based at least in part on the identified CSI in the radio frequency spectrum band.

Abstract: The disclosure provides for a method of interference detection using adaptive energy detection in unlicensed spectrum. The method can include a first modem operating according to a first radio access technology (RAT) receiving a message from a network entity operating according to the first RAT. The first modem sends a detected energy level value to a second modem that is using a second RAT, where the detected energy level value is based at least on the measured energy level of the received message. The second modem adjusts an energy detection threshold based on the detected energy level value received from the first modem. In an aspect, the first modem receives messages from a plurality of network entities operating according to the first RAT, where the detected energy level value is determined based on measured energy levels of the plurality of received messages.

Abstract: Uplink control channel transmission in a shared radio frequency spectrum band may be transmitted using different uplink resources UCI based on a format of uplink control information (UCI) to be transmitted in the uplink control channel transmission. Different time resources, frequency resources, or combinations thereof, for the transmission of UCI by a UE may be provided by a base station and selected by the UE based on a UCI format. The resources to be used for UCI transmission may semi-statically configured, or dynamically indicated to a UE. Uplink transmissions may be configured in interlaces of frequency resources, with each interlace having one or more segments, and a base station may configure different segments for transmission of different format UCI. In some cases, different subframes, or different component carriers, may be configured for different formats of UCI.

Abstract: The present disclosure, for example, relates to one or more techniques for scaling the bandwidth of a carrier. Available sub-channels of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may be determined, and the available sub-channels may be included in the carrier. The available sub-channels may be adjacent or non-adjacent sub-channels. The bandwidth of the carrier may be determined according to which sub-channels are included in the carrier. In this way, the bandwidth of the carrier may be scaled according to the available sub-channels in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band.
