Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein may assign resource elements of a particular resource block for transmission by two or more different antennas in a fashion such that the symbols are interleaved in frequency and/or in time, which improves frequency diversity of the two or more different antennas, thereby improving uplink performance of the UE. In some aspects, when the two or more resource blocks are contiguous, then each antenna may produce an interleaved frequency division multiple access (IFDMA) waveform, which may maintain peak to average power ratio (PAPR) properties of a single channel FDMA transmission. Thus, some techniques and apparatuses described herein may achieve transmit diversity and/or frequency diversity of a stream of symbols on two or more antennas without significantly increasing the PAPR of the stream of symbols.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support frequency and time domain multiplexing for low peak-to-average waveforms with multiple streams. A user equipment (UE) may identify sets of symbols associated with different streams (e.g., multiple single-carrier discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-spread waveforms), where each stream may be associated with a low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In some cases, different waveforms may be mapped to subsets of frequency resources through frequency division multiplexing (FDM). The UE may further reduce the PAPR of the multiplexed waveforms by performing time division multiplexing (TDM) across the single-carrier streams, and sets of symbols that are not used by one waveform may be used by another waveform. Frequency domain phase ramps may be applied to align the multiplexed waveforms. Signals included in an uplink transmission according to these techniques may maintain properties similar to single-carrier waveforms, including a low PAPR.

Abstract: Multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) devices and non-MIMO devices may implement a flexible comb-based design for transmission of reference signals, such as demodulation reference signals (DMRSs). User equipment (UEs) of different ranks may use the flexible comb-based design to transmit the reference signals in a common comb pattern within an allocated bandwidth. UEs using as many antenna ports as combs in the common comb pattern may transmit a different reference signal using a different antenna port over each comb, while UEs using fewer antenna ports than combs may concatenate combs, so that the UEs may transmit a reference signal using a single antenna port over multiple combs. Using the flexible comb-based design, a base station may be capable of better manage inter-cell interference and multiplexing of different rank UEs in shared resource blocks (RBs) may be supported.

Abstract: Wireless communication devices, such as a scheduled entity, are adapted to facilitate uplink transmissions on multiple physical uplink control channels (PUCCHs) of a regular burst period. According to one example, a scheduled entity may obtain a payload for an uplink transmission on a PUCCH. The scheduled entity may subsequently send the uplink transmission utilizing two or more physical uplink control channels (PUCCH) of a regular burst period, where each PUCCH is associated with a different frequency band of the regular burst period. According to one example, a scheduling entity may receive an uplink transmission, where the uplink transmission utilizes a first PUCCH of a regular burst period, and at least a second PUCCH of the regular burst period, each of the first and second PUCCHs being associated with respectively different frequency bands of the regular burst period. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Abstract: Techniques for performing network-assisted peer discovery to enable peer-to-peer (P2P) communication are described. In one design, a device registers with a network entity (e.g., a directory agent) so that the presence of the device and possibly other information about the device can be made known to the network entity. The network entity collects similar information from other devices. The device sends a request to the network entity, e.g., during or after registration. The request includes information used to match the device with other devices, e.g., information about service(s) provided by the device and/or service(s) requested by the device. The directory agent matches requests received from all devices, determines a match between the device and at least one other device, and sends a notification to perform peer discovery. The device performs peer discovery in response to receiving the notification from the network entity.
