Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A wireless device may receive an allocation of uplink resources for an uplink transmission of uplink control information (UCI) during a long physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), which may range from four to fourteen symbol periods in length. The wireless device may identify a frequency hopping location based on the length of the PUCCH and a number of bits used to represent the UCI. In some cases, the frequency hopping location partitions the long PUCCH into a first set of symbol periods and a second set of symbol periods. After identifying the frequency hopping location, the wireless device may transmit a UCI message, which may include information and reference symbols, over a first frequency bandwidth during the first set of symbol periods and over a second frequency bandwidth during the second set of symbol periods.

Abstract: A device, such as a base station or user equipment (UE), may identify a narrowband reference signal (NB-RS) energy per resource element (EPRE) for a NB-RS to be transmitted in a wireless transmission. The device may identify a ratio of a narrowband physical downlink shared channel (N-PDSCH) EPRE to the NB-RS EPRE for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols containing neither a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) nor a NB-RS. In deployments where NB transmissions are transmitted in a guard-band adjacent to a wideband system bandwidth, a device may identify a second ratio for N-PDSCH EPRE to CRS EPRE within OFDM symbols containing CRS. In deployments where NB transmissions are transmitted in-band with the wideband system bandwidth, a device may identify a third ratio of NB-RS EPRE to CRS EPRE, and a fourth ratio of N-PDSCH EPRE to NB-RS EPRE within OFDM symbols containing NB-RS transmissions.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may transmit a control channel and a data channel using contiguous resource allocations of a portion of a slot. The control channel may be associated with control channel power spectral density (PSD) and the data channel may be associated with a data channel PSD. When a difference between the control channel PSD and the data channel PSD exceeds a maximum delta value, the UE may experience degraded performance as a result of tonal interference and/or the like. In some aspects, the UE may determine a control channel transmit power for the control channel and a data channel transmit power for the data channel. The control channel transmit power and the data channel transmit power may be determined such that the maximum delta value is not exceeded and that a threshold relating to a link budget is satisfied, thereby ensuring that performance is not degraded.

Abstract: In some circumstances, a URLLC may preempt resource. An apparatus may be configured to receive a set of resource blocks from a base station including at least one of eMBB data or URLLC data in a PDSCH. The apparatus may receive a URLLC indicator from the base station. The URLLC indicator may be received embedded within the URLLC data or received separate from the URLLC data within DCI of a PDCCH. The URLLC indicator indicates whether the set of resource blocks includes at least part of the URLLC data. The apparatus may determine, based on the URLLC indicator, whether the set of resource blocks includes the URLLC data and processing the set of resource blocks based on a result of determining whether the set of resource blocks includes the URLLC data.

In some aspects, a user equipment may determine, when using resource spread multiple access with non-orthogonal multiple access, that a particular modulation scheme is enabled. The user equipment may process symbols using a set of processing sequences selected based at least in part on the particular modulation scheme such that the particular modulation scheme is preserved for the symbols. The user equipment may transmit the symbols based at least in part on processing the symbols using the set of processing sequences. Numerous other aspects are provided.

A wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may identify a codebook matrix having a number of rows equal to a first number and a number of columns equal to a second number, the first number equal to a number of UEs supported for communication with a base station, and the second number equal to a sequence length of a set of UE specific signature sequences, where the rows of the codebook matrix comprise a Welch bound equality (WBE) achieving vector set. The UE may identify a UE specific signature sequence based at least in part on a mapping between an identifier associated with the UE to one or more rows of the codebook matrix, and communicate with the base station based at least in part on the UE specific signature sequence.

A user equipment (UE) may receive signaling that configures a downlink bandwidth for a broadcast channel transmission (e.g., a physical downlink control channel transmission). The UE may determine a bandwidth of the capability is less than the downlink bandwidth, and monitor search space occasions in a period to receive samples of the broadcast channel. The period and the search space occasions may be associated with a control resource set and a search space set. The UE may receive the samples in non-overlapping subbands of the bandwidth according to the bandwidth capability, and detect the broadcast channel based on the samples. The UE may additionally monitor repeated transmission occasions in the period based on detecting the broadcast channel to detect a second broadcast channel (e.g., a physical downlink shared channel).

Dedicated frequency resources of a physical random access channel (PRACH) may be designated for large and small frequency hops to facilitate the determination of timing offsets for PRACH transmissions. For instance, a frequency hopping pattern within the PRACH channel having a plurality of single tone transmission may include a first number of hops associated with a first frequency hopping distance (e.g., large frequency hops), and a second number of hops associated with a second frequency hopping distance (e.g., small frequency hops).
