Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for increasing physical random access channel (PRACH) capacity using orthogonal cover codes (OCCs) in wireless communications systems are described. A base station may transmit a PRACH configuration that indicates PRACH resources for system access, for example, in a system information block (SIB). A user equipment (UE) may receive the PRACH configuration, and may identify PRACH resources that support OCCs for system access. For example, PRACH configurations with small time domain spacing between PRACH resources may support OCCs. The UE may determine whether to transmit random access (RACH) preamble messages using OCCs in the PRACH resources, and may transmit a RACH preamble message to the base station based on the determination. In some cases, the base station may additionally indicate PRACH resources not configured for OCCs, and the UE may determine which set of resources to transmit in based on one or more parameters.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first information element (IE) and a second IE, wherein the first IE indicates whether all UEs that do not support cell-specific reference signal (CRS) muting are barred from a carrier and the second IE indicates whether all UEs that support CRS muting are barred from the carrier; and selectively access the carrier based at least in part on at least one of the first IE or the second IE. In some aspects, a UE may determine whether the UE supports cell-specific reference signal (CRS) muting; and transmit, to a base station, a capability report that indicates whether the UE supports CRS muting. Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are provided that improves power savings and reliability of communication for DRX/eDRX modes. A base station may receive an indication from a network entity that a UE is in a DRX/eDRX mode. The base station may configure a WUS mode for the UE corresponding to the DRX mode or the eDRX mode. A UE may receive the WUS mode from the base station. When a UE is configured for relaxed RRM measurements for a first cell and moves to a second cell that supports a relaxed RRM measurement, the UE may return to a regular RRM measurement for a time period. When a UE configured for a WUS mode for a first cell moves to a second cell that supports the WUS mode, the UE may return to the DRX mode or the eDRX mode without the WUS mode for a period of time.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for reporting aperiodic channel quality indicator (A-CQI) in a new Secondary Cell (SCell) state of Long Term Evolution (LTE) carrier aggregation. A User Equipment (UE) receives a request for reporting A-CQI relating to a Scell configured for the UE when the UE is in a first state corresponding to the Scell, the first state designed for a reduced SCell activation latency and to result in the UE using lower power as compared to when the UE is in a second state. The UE, in response to the request, reports the A-CQI for the Scell in accordance with a first A-CQI reporting configuration for the first state which is different from a second A-CQI reporting configuration for the second state.

Abstract: A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) without a radio resource control (RRC) connection to a base station includes receiving system information from the base station and transmitting a data communication to the base station over a control plane without establishing an RRC connection with the base station. A UE in an RRC suspended state may transmit a data communication to the base station over a user plane without resuming an RRC connection with the base station. The data communication may comprise data and UE identity information and/or a cause indication. A base station may indicate resources in the system information for the transmission of the data communication information and receive the data communication over the control plane without establishing an RRC connection with the UE or over a user plane without resuming an RRC connection with an RRC suspended UE.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a drone-coupled UE transmits a message to a network component (e.g., eNB) of a terrestrial wireless communication subscriber network that identifies a drone-coupled capability information of the drone-coupled UE, the drone-coupled capability information being configured to indicate, to the network component, that the drone-coupled UE is capable of engaging in a flying state. The network component receives the message and determines that the drone-coupled UE is capable of engaging in a flying state based on the received message.
