Abstract: For a two-step random access channel (RACH) process, the base station determines a random access configuration to configure a user equipment (UE) with the two-step RACH process that includes a communication of a first message including a preamble portion and a payload portion, where the determining the random access configuration includes determining to exclude a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) from the payload portion based on satisfaction of conditions. The base station generates configuration information including the random access configuration indicating the two-step RACH process, the configuration information including a configuration for a transmission of the preamble portion and the payload portion without the DMRS based on the satisfaction of the conditions. The base station transmits the configuration information to the UE, and subsequently receives, based on the configuration information, a first RACH message that includes the preamble portion and the payload portion without the DMRS, using the single carrier waveform.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for positioning. A receiver measures a time of arrival (ToA) of a positioning reference signal (PRS) transmission of a first PRS sequence transmitted by a first transmitter, measures a ToA of a PRS transmission of a second PRS sequence transmitted by a second transmitter, and determines an observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) as a difference between the ToA of the PRS transmission of the first PRS sequence and the ToA of the PRS transmission of the second PRS sequence, wherein the OTDOA is less than half a maximum differential delay expected between the PRS transmission of the first PRS sequence and the PRS transmission of the second PRS sequence, and wherein a repetition duration of the first PRS sequence and the second PRS sequence is greater than 10 milliseconds (ms) and at least twice the maximum differential delay.

Abstract: Satellites in a non-terrestrial network may provide positioning reference signals (PRS) to user equipment (UE), with which the UE may determine its position using propagation delay difference measurements, such as Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) measurement. Due to the large distances between satellites and the UE, the propagation delay differences in the PRS received from satellites may exceed half a radio frame, resulting in a frame level timing ambiguity in the differential measurements. The satellites transmit secondary PRS, along with primary PRS, that include timing information to resolve frame level timing ambiguity of the primary PRS. The positioning occasions in the secondary PRS, for example, may be aligned with corresponding positioning occasions primary PRS within each radio frame, and are transmitted with a periodicity that is an integer multiple (greater than 1) of that of the primary PRS to resolve the frame level timing ambiguity of the primary PRS.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow coverage enhancement and support in NTNs for repetition, frequency hopping, and antenna switching during msgA transmissions based on a preamble-to-PO mapping. In one aspect, the base station provides and the UE obtains a RACH configuration associating a preamble with at least one PO for two-step random access, where the PO spans a time interval greater than one slot. In another aspect, the base station provides and the UE obtains a RACH configuration associating a preamble with a plurality of POs for two-step random access. In a further aspect, the base station provides the UE a plurality of configurations each indicating a PO for two-step random access. In an additional aspect, the base station provides the UE a configuration indicating a guard band for a PO for two-step random access, where the guard band is indicated in units of subcarriers spanning less than one PRB.

The UE may perform the set of functions on the received single carrier signals based at least in part on the received reference signal.
