Abstract:
A communication network node, such as a radio base station or base station controller in a wireless communication network, is configured to monitor and control ingress and egress data congestion. As such, node-based congestion monitoring provides a method of flow control between network nodes and, as such, for example, it may be used to control congestion on backhaul links between radio base stations and base station controllers, and on sidehaul links between base station controllers. In one embodiment, the node monitors egress and ingress data congestion conditions, and marks ingress data incoming to the node to indicate congestion. For example, if ingress data markings indicate ingress data congestion, the node can send signaling to initiate a reduction in the amount of data being sent to the node, e.g., a reduction in ingress data rates. If ingress data markings indicate egress data congestion, the node can reduce egress data rates.
Abstract:
An optical drive with symmetrical anti-impact structure. A joint is fixed to an optical pick-up and slidably disposed on a guide bar with both ends supported by a base, and a symmetrical bumper is attached to the joint. When the bumper impacts the base, the joint does not deviate from the sliding direction thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for initially setting a power of a radiation beam for reproducing data recorded on an optical information medium. The method, according to the invention, can be applied in an optical information reproducing apparatus to resolve the problems resulting from a decayed optical pick-up unit used for a long time. The method, according to the invention, can also be applied in a certain batch of optical pick-up units for adjustment thereof during assembling in the optical information reproducing apparatuses. For the batch of optical information pick-up units, the method of the invention can resolve the reduction of usability of the optical pick-up units resulting from discrepancy among the optical pick-up units, thus enhancing the yield rate of the optical pick-up units when being assembled.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for broadcasting live personal performances over the Internet employs a web server to manage scheduling and broadcasting of the performances over the Internet, as well as collections and payments for products and services sold by presenters to viewers in conjunction with their performances. The server receives audio/video data from presenter operated computers through an uploaded presenter program, and relays the received audio/video data to viewer operated computers for viewing in media players invoked by their web browsers responding to an uploaded HTML document or JAVA applet. Viewers select performances to view from a program schedule provided on a webpage hosted by the web server. Both viewers and presenters are registered with the web server to facilitate payments for products and services, and their financial information stored in a secure user database.
Abstract:
A method of detecting an optical disks applied in an optical disk drive is disclosed. The optical disk drive includes a spindle motor and an optical pickup unit (OPU). The method includes steps of moving the optical pickup unit to a first position; controlling the optical pickup unit to emit a first laser beam; detecting if any to-be-read disk is loaded in the optical disk drive according to the reflection of the first laser beam, and ending the method if no to-be-read disk is loaded in the optical disk drive; moving the optical pickup unit to a second position; controlling the optical pickup unit to emit a second laser beam; and determining the scale of the to-be-read disk according to the reflection of the second laser beam.
Abstract:
A computer system includes a web client having a client based program residing on it, a firewall having a protocol proxy residing on it, and a host server having an application program and a special window manager residing on it. All communications between the protocol proxy and the application program go through the special window manager. The web client communicates with the firewall through the Internet, and the firewall communicates with the host server through a LAN. The client based program employs HTTP, and the special window manager employs a persistent connection, socket-based protocol. The protocol proxy establishes and maintains a persistent connection with the special window manager, and communicates information back and forth between the client based program and the application program through the special window manager by first protocol translating the information between HTTP and the special window manager's persistent connection, socket-based protocol.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for avoiding conflicts between evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS) operations and paging and/or mobile originated (MO) operations in communication systems. A method for wireless communications by a user Equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes identifying at least one evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) session available for receiving one or more eMBMS services from a base station. The method also includes taking one or more actions to reduce a conflict between receiving the one or more eMBMS services from the base station and receiving a paging message from the base station during the eMBMS session. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
A mobile payment system includes a web browsing capable device in communication with the Internet to make online purchases at online merchants, a mobile payment device having securely stored payment information, and a server to identify the mobile device and receive the payment information for the online purchase by the web browsing capable device.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for utilizing an idle interval of a first radio access network (RAN) for performing measurements in a second RAN. For certain aspects, the first and second RANs may be a Time Division—Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) network and a Time Division Duplex Long Term Evolution (TDD-LTE) network, respectively. With efficient use of the first RAN's idle interval, increased power savings or increased system throughput may be achieved.
Abstract:
A mobile payment system includes a web browsing capable device in communication with the Internet to make purchases online at online stores, and a mobile payment device having securely stored payment information. The mobile payment device is locally or remotely connectable to the web browsing capable device to pay for online purchases. The mobile payment device includes a registration protocol employed to discover and register one or more web browsing capable device, and the mobile device is couplable to a card issuing bank to exchange payment messages.
