Abstract:
The present invention is a candle composition containing a vegetable lipid base component and a candle formed from the composition. The candle composition may contain up to 100 percent by weight of a vegetable lipid base component. The candle composition may further contain a plant derived crystal modifier.
Abstract:
Candles are disclosed that include a wick, a first phase and a second phase. In one embodiment, the first phase is substantially clear and has a first melting point, the second phase is visually distinct from the first phase and has a second melting point, and the second melting point is greater than or about equal to the first melting point. In another embodiment, the first phase contains a first concentration of gellant in first solvent, the second phase contains a second concentration of gellant in second solvent, and the first and second concentrations are non-identical. In another embodiment, the first and second phases each contain gellant, however the second phase contains components not present in the first phase.
Abstract:
White, dyed, dipped, unscented and/or scented candle wax is effectively stabilized against discoloration and fading by the incorporation therein of a morpholinone in combination with a UV absorber and/or an antioxidant.
Abstract:
A triacylglycerol-based wax, which can be used in candle making, is provided. The triacylglycerol-based material is predominantly includes a triacylglycerol stock which has a fatty acid profile has no more than about 25 wt. % fatty acids having less than 18 carbon atoms. In addition, the fatty acid profile of the triacylglycerol typically includes at least about 50 wt. % 18:1 fatty acid and no more than about 25 wt. % 18:0 fatty acid. In another embodiment, the triacylglycerol-based material is characterized in part by an Iodine Value of about 60 to 75. For applications such as candles, the wax commonly includes a hydrogenated vegetable oil and palmitic acid. Candles formed from triacylglycerol-based material and methods of producing the candles are also provided.
Abstract:
A process for revegatating land includes the steps of performing a soil analysis, creating seed-bearing pellets according to soil needs, and disbursing the seed-bearing pellets over the land to be revegatated. Such seed-bearing pellets are created by mixing nutrients and ground organic material. The mixture is saturated with steam and pressed through a die and cut into individual pellets. Seeds are adhered onto each pellet, and activated charcoal may be fixed to the outer surface of the pellet to neutralize herbicide applied to the land to be revegatated. A process for creating fuel pellets is also provided which includes grinding and mixing waste wood products, and adding oil to the mixture. This mixture is injected with steam and pressed through a die. The pressed mixture is then cut into cloverleaf configured pellets.
Abstract:
Substantially soot free candles that incorporate paraffin and fatty material (hydrogenated triglycerides (TG) and/or free fatty acids (FFA)) that has a low Iodine Value (IV). The use of low IV fatty material and proper component percentages results in low soot or soot free candles. Paraffin/TG, paraffin/TG/FFA and paraffin/FFA candles are disclosed as are appropriate component percentages and/or IV values to achieve desired low or non sooting characteristics.
Abstract:
There is described a smokeless candle which contains insect or Chinese wax, in addition to paraffin wax, to prevent generation of soot, when burning flame of the candle flares.
Abstract:
A vegetable lipid-based composition comprised of a vegetable lipid component and a petroleum wax is described. The vegetable lipid component may include a triglyceride or a free fatty acid/triglyceride mixture. The vegetable lipid-based composition has properties that make it advantageous in candle production.

Abstract:
A reactor system comprising two or more subterranean reactors for high pressure treatment of materials. The reactors each comprise an inlet tube, a reaction region and an out let tube and are deep enough for material in the inlet and outlet tubes to produce signifecant hydrostatic pressure. The reactors are adapted to exchange heat which may occur through a shared heat transferring wall or a heat exchanger including circulating liquid. The invention also extends to a method of simultaneously running two processes in the reactor system. The preferred processes are hydrothermal dewatering of coal, especially brown coal, and coal liquefaction wherein exothermic heat product of one process contributes to the heating requirements of the other process. The invention also extends to a method of hydrothermal dewatering of coal when conducted in a subterranean reactor in conditions of decreasing pressure.
