Abstract:
The present invention is a candle composition containing a vegetable lipid base component and a candle formed from the composition. The candle composition may contain up to 100 percent by weight of a vegetable lipid base component. The candle composition may further contain a plant derived crystal modifier.
Abstract:
Hindered amine compounds which are substituted by a long hydrocarbon chain are useful in a number of applications where the solubility or compatibility afforded by said substitution is needed. This is seen particularly for example with white, dyed, dipped, unscented and/or scented candle wax which is effectively stabilized against discoloration and fading by the incorporation therein of a long chain hindered amine alone or in combination with a UV absorber and/or an antioxidant.
Abstract:
A candle composition has a paraffin wax mixture of a high melting point paraffin wax and a low melting point paraffin wax, and a hydrogenated vegetable oil that is present in a greater amount than the mixture of the varying grades of paraffin wax, and the vegetable oil contains no more than 0.15% free fatty acid, with the remainder being triglycerides. Candles of the composition have good burn characteristics, particularly good fragrance intensity and produce a unique crystallization effect after the first burn.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to colored flame candles for decoration or lighting, and provides the manufacturing method for the colored flame candles containing fatty acid alcohols, aliphatic organic compounds, aliphatic surfactants unlike the conventional paraffin candles; coloring agents such as lithium stearate, boric acid, and copper (II) chloride; supporters; heat-resistant agents; and surfactants.
Abstract:
A compound includes a mixture of a hydrocarbon oil in a relation of about 75 to 88 in weight percent and at least one copolymer selected from the group of triblock and diblock polymers in a proportion from about 12 to 25 in weight percent, the hydrocarbon oil having a viscosity of at least 180 SUSnull at 37null C. (100null F.) and, when the viscosity is in CSTnull, the viscosity being greater than 32 CSTnull at 40null C. (104null F.), and the flash point being greater than 220null C. (425null F.). Also a free standing candle is made with the compound, the candle maintaining a free standing condition even when lit by means of a flame produced as a consequence of the combustion of a wick that crosses the body of the candle projecting toward outside one of its ends.

Abstract:
A triacylglycerol-based wax includes a triacylglycerol component and a polyol fatty acid partial ester component. The triacylglycerol-based wax may have a melting point of about 54null C. to 63null C., may have an Iodine Value of about 20 to 40, and may have a fatty acid profile including about 50 to 70 wt. % saturated fatty acids. The wax may be suitable for use as a candle.
Abstract:
Candles are disclosed that include a wick, a first phase and a second phase. In one embodiment, the first phase is substantially clear and has a first melting point, the second phase is visually distinct from the first phase and has a second melting point, and the second melting point is greater than or about equal to the first melting point. In another embodiment, the first phase contains a first concentration of gellant in first solvent, the second phase contains a second concentration of gellant in second solvent, and the first and second concentrations are non-identical. In another embodiment, the first and second phases each contain gellant, however the second phase contains components not present in the first phase.
Abstract:
An exemplary candle comprises an outer tapered shell with a plurality of tapered sidewalls that are joined together at abutting edges. The shell comprises a material that does not completely melt when the candle is burned. A wick disposed within the shell, and paraffin is disposed the tapered shell to cover the wick except near the top of the candle where the wick is exposed, that is designed to melt when the candle is burned. The paraffin may comprise paraffin beads that partially fill the shell and cover the wick. An exemplary method includes providing a candle that has an outer shell made of a material that does not completely melt when the candle is burned, disposing a wick in the outer shell, and filling the outer shell with paraffin beads to surround the wick to a desired level that keeps an upper end of the wick exposed.
Abstract:
A gel candle assembly comprising a gel candle made of three different viscosity mineral oils and a polymer to produce a self-supporting structure. The gel candle is transparent and manufactured into an elongated polyhedron or cylinder. It is placed onto a plastic base with perpendicularly aligned side walls, a holographic liner inside the base, and a transparent cover which covers the gel candle and selectively attaches to the plastic base. When in use, the light from the candle flame is refracted through the candle and reflected from the holographic liner. The light reflected from the holographic liner produces a plurality of spectrums visible through the gel candle. An optional protective plastic spacer is included that is intended to rest on the top surface of the candle when the candle is not in use. Optional color, fragrance, and glitter may be added to the candle gel.
Abstract:
The invention provides a candle body composition, and a candle made therefrom, wherein the candle body composition comprises at least about 51 percent of a vegetable fat having an iodine value of about 0 to about 80, preferably about 40 to about 80. The vegetable fat may comprise a partially or fully hydrogenated vegetable oil, such as soybean oil, palm oil, cottonseed oil, rapeseed oil and mixtures thereof. The candle body composition may further comprise up to about 49 weight percent of one or more crystal modifiers, such as fully hydrogenated vegetable oils having an iodine value of about 1 to about 20, fatty acids, esters of fatty acids, and mixtures thereof. The invention includes a method of forming candles using the above-described candle body composition.
