    摘要: An automobile includes a plastic body and a steel frame bonded to the plastic body. The rear suspension system of the automobile includes a suspension arm coupled to a rear wheel. An arm shaft extends transversely inwardly from the arm and is embedded in a rubber cartridge press-fit into the frame, to thereby attenuate motion of the suspension arm. A horizontally-mounted longitudinally-oriented shock absorber further interconnects the suspension arm and frame. This shock absorber orientation avoids transferring suspension system loads to the plastic body.

    摘要: An improved vehicle front suspension assembly is disclosed utilizing pneumatic springs for use with a .[.conventional.]. vehicle body and frame configuration and with a .[.conventional.]. vehicle front axle .[.housing.]. and wheel assembly. A left air spring and a right air spring are included each mounted in abutment with the bottom portion of the frame of the vehicle and mounted upon the top of the axle .[.housing.]. of the vehicle. A stabilizer bar assembly is used having a left stabilizer bar, a right stabilizer bar and two lateral stabilizer bars, one in the rear and one in the front, which are fixedly secured with respect to the left and right stabilizer bars to form a secure overall stabilizer bar assembly. A spring support plate is fixedly secured with respect to this stabilizer assembly and is adapted to receive a front air spring mounted to the foremost top portion thereof. This front air spring .[.if.]. .Iadd.is .Iaddend.fixedly secured with respect to the frame at the upper portion thereof by being mounted directly attached to a top support member. Lateral swaying is prevented by the inclusion of a tracking bar running from the frame to the axle .[.housing.]. and by the firmly secured position of the front air spring.

    摘要: An axle arrangement for a vehicular trailer is provided. This arrangement includes at least one rigid guide axle and therebehind a follower steering axle having wheel and tire assemblies that are connected to a rigid axle member via control levers and are interconnected via a tie bar. The axle members of the guide axle and of the follower steering axle are supported via connecting springs on brackets and pneumatic cushioning bellows that are secured to the chassis of the trailer. So that the follower steering axle can have the same connection dimension relative to the longitudinal members of the trailer as does the rigid guide axle, the connecting springs of the follower steering axle, between the forward brackets and the axle member, are bent inwardly toward the center of the axle member by an amount that is equal at most to half the difference between a center to center distance of the connecting springs of the rigid guide axle and the follower steering axle.

    摘要: Two support assemblies for respectively supporting the tapered end and the cylindrical end of an elongated tubular elastomeric spring between two opposed spring seats are disclosed. The support assembly for the tapered end is made up of an elongated retaining member which is positionable generally transverse to and entirely inside the tapered end. This retaining member includes two inclined portions which bear down upon the inside of the tapered end when pulled in an outward direction by a bolt threadably secured to a conventional spring seat. The support assembly for the cylindrical end is made up of a second retaining member which is positionable generally transverse to and entirely inside the cylindrical end. The second retaining member includes a plurality of expandable flange portions which engage the inside of the cylindrical portion as the retaining member is pulled in an outward direction by a bolt threadably secured to the second spring seat. The spring is reinforced to resist bulging in response to the outwardly directed forces applied by the support assemblies.
