摘要: The present application provides a flow table-based table entry addressing method, a switch, and a controller. The method includes: receiving, by a switch, a packet; matching, by the switch, the packet based on a previous flow table; after matching is successful, sending, by the switch based on a write storage index instruction in a flow table entry that is successfully matched, storage index information along with the packet to a lower-level flow table, where, the storage index information corresponds to a flow table entry in the lower-level flow table, and the write storage index instruction is sent by a controller; and directly addressing, by the switch in the lower-level flow table based on the storage index information, the flow table entry corresponding to the storage index information.

摘要: A packet delivering method for a packet delivering apparatus includes: recording respective priorities of multiple packet delivering rules, which includes multiple first packet delivering rules and multiple second packet delivering rules respectively stored in a software layer and a main storage space of a hardware layer of the packet delivering apparatus; selecting a designated packet delivering rule from the first packet delivering rules; determining whether the main storage space is full; searching for at least one candidate delivering rule that meets a replacement condition from the second packet delivering rules according to the priorities of the designated data of the designated packet delivering rule and the second packet delivering rules when the main storage space is full; and replacing one of the at least one candidate packet delivering rule by the designated packet delivering rule when the at least one candidate packet delivering rule exists.

摘要: Techniques for stateful connection optimization over stretched networks are disclosed. Such stretched networks may extend across both a data center and a cloud. In one embodiment, configuration changes are made to cloud layer 2 (L2) concentrators used by extended networks and a cloud router such that the L2 concentrators block packets with the cloud router's source MAC address and block address resolution protocol (ARP) requests for a gateway IP address from/to cloud networks that are part of the extended networks. Further, the cloud router is configured with the same gateway IP address as that of a default gateway router in the data center and responds to ARP requests for the gateway IP address with its own MAC address. In addition, specific prefix routes (e.g., /32 routes) for virtual computing instances on route optimized networks in the cloud are injected into the cloud router and propagating to a data center router.

In a second exemplary aspect, one or more conditions affecting a link speed are weighted and collectively evaluated to determine an efficient or optimal link speed. By adjusting the link speed in this fashion, lower link speeds may be used, and net power savings may be effectuated.

摘要: Techniques are described which apply a method for including a routing stack to provide a timely way to dynamically learn about route changes for an end to end system in the context of an adaptive private network (APN). By allowing learned routes to be assigned different services based on filtering rules, the APN can efficiently manage traffic through the WAN. Techniques for learning routes and to advertise the learned routes in different networks are also described. Upon an APN route change being detected in the APN, a route table is updated with the APN route change, wherein the route table contains routes in a local area network (LAN) and routes in a wide area network (WAN). The APN route change is selected from the route table and configured to a protocol for the LAN. The selected APN route change is advertised in the protocol to local routers in the LAN.

摘要: Dynamically changing the aggressiveness of optimization of virtual machines on physical hosts allows more efficient and varied optimization. An aggressiveness policy mechanism periodically applies system conditions to the aggressiveness policies to create aggressiveness settings that are provided to an optimizer. The optimizer then uses the aggressiveness settings to dynamically adjust the aggressiveness of placement of virtual machines according to the aggressiveness settings and consistent with other optimization policies. The aggressiveness policy mechanism may allow a system administrator to create and/or select aggressiveness policies.

摘要: A method and associated systems for using a software-defined network (SDN) controller to automatically test cloud performance. A bandwidth measuring and optimizing system associated with the SDN controller detects a triggering condition and, in response, directs a network-management tool to measure a bandwidth of a segment of a physical infrastructure of a network and directs the SDN controller to provision a virtual machine that then measures a bandwidth of a corresponding segment of virtual infrastructure that is overlaid upon the physical segment. In some embodiments, these two tests are synchronized so as to concurrently measure physical and virtual bandwidths while the same test data passes through the virtual infrastructure segment. The measured bandwidth of the virtual segment is then compared to the measured bandwidth of the physical segment in order to determine an efficiency of the virtual network.
