摘要: The present invention corresponds to a device for extracting water from the environment by means of a liquid desiccant. The device comprises a means for capturing water from the environment using a liquid desiccant, an extraction chamber, a first duct through which liquid desiccant with water flows from the capture means to the extraction chamber, a second duct through which liquid desiccant flows from the extraction chamber to the capture means, a reservoir for depositing water extracted from the liquid desiccant in the extraction chamber, a third duct through which water flows from the extraction chamber to the reservoir, a means to create a vacuum within the extraction chamber, and a control device that controls the heating element. The extraction chamber comprises a container located at the bottom of the extraction chamber, in which the water captured by the liquid desiccant is extracted and a heating element located within the container

摘要: An indirect evaporative cooler for cooling inlet supply air from a first temperature to a second, lower temperature using a stream of liquid coolant and a stream of exhaust or purge air. The cooler includes a first flow channel for inlet supply air and a second flow channel adjacent the first for exhaust air. The first and second flow channels are defined in part by sheets of a membrane permeable to water vapor such that mass is transferred as a vapor through the membrane from the inlet supply air to a contained liquid desiccant for dehumidification and also to the exhaust air as heat is transferred from the inlet supply air to the liquid coolant. A separation wall divides the liquid desiccant and the coolant but allows heat to be transferred from the supply air to the coolant which releases water vapor to the counter or cross flowing exhaust air.

摘要: Systems, devices, and methods are presented for using a liquid desiccant to regulate a moisture content of air conditioned by a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The liquid desiccant is disposed within a processing volume, which is substantially-enclosed and substantially segregates the liquid desiccant from the conditioned air. A pair of vapor-permeable membranes define opposite surfaces of the processing volume. Water vapor diffuses through the vapor-permeable membranes, thereby enabling an exchange of moisture between the liquid desiccant and the conditioned air. The refrigerant circuit itself is used to cool desiccant in the absorber and heat desiccant in the desorber. Other systems, devices, and methods are presented.

摘要: An air temperature and humidity control device is provided including a first heat pump having a compressor, an expansion valve, a condenser, and an evaporator. The first heat pump has a refrigerant circulating there through. A humidity controller includes a first contactor fluidly coupled to the evaporator and condenser. The first contact includes at least one contact module having a porous sidewall that defines an internal space through which a hygroscopic material flows. A first air flow is in communication with the porous sidewall of the first contactor. The device also has a second heat pump including a first polishing coil. The first polishing coil is substantially aligned with and arranged generally downstream from the first contactor relative to the first air flow.

摘要: A desiccant air conditioning system treats an air stream entering a building space. The system includes a conditioner having multiple structures arranged in a substantially vertical orientation, each having at least one surface across which a liquid desiccant can flow. The air stream flows through or between the structures such that the liquid desiccant dehumidifies the air stream in a warm weather operation mode and humidifies the air stream in a cold weather operation mode. Each structure further includes a desiccant collector at a lower end of the at least one surface for collecting liquid desiccant that has flowed across the at least one surface of the structure. A regenerator receives liquid desiccant from the desiccant collectors in the conditioner and causes the liquid desiccant to desorb water in the warm weather operation mode and to absorb water in the cold weather operation mode.
