The upper deformable roll forming press (32) includes upper deformable rolls (34) whose axes are located along a direction of conveyance between the axes of lower deformable rolls (28) of the lower deformable roll forming conveyor (26) in a manner that prevents leading glass edge curling as the lower conveyor and upper forming press are moved between flat and curved shapes to provide glass sheet forming.

摘要: An insulating roller cover is now disclosed that provides a highly desirable combination of features. The cover is free from asbestos and is therefore of more desirable construction for handling and use. For the roller cover, at least substantially ceramic fiber is highly compressed, providing a dense and refractory, elevated temperature resistant insulating cover. The cover may itself serve as a load bearing surface; or may provide a foundation or protective media for annular discs or 10 sleeve members made of various, load bearing materials. These load bearing materials may be unable to resist direct contact with the shaft due to thermal shock or the differences in their respective expansion and contraction rates. Where impregnant is utilized with the highly compressed fiber, such will often comprise a colloidal substituent.

摘要: A device for heat treatment is provided. The device includes at least one processing chamber arranged in an elongated housing having a heating device and having a transport system for continuous transport of material to be treated through the processing chamber. The transport system has two parallel endless conveyor belts spaced from each other and a plurality of cylinders made of quartz glass that bridge the distance between the conveyor belts. The cylinders are supported on these belts and the material to be treated is supported on the cylinders for the heat treatment. The cylinders are designed as twin tubes, formed by two tubular compartments separated from each other by an intermediate partition. Each tubular compartment has a longitudinal axis and is connected rotation-free at its end with the conveyor belts.

摘要: The present invention relates to a water-cooled handling roll (100) for handling a load (50), in particular a thin slab, in a furnace for temperature heating, maintaining and for buffering, arranged between casting and roughing, in a continuous casting and rolling process for thin carbon steel slabs. The roll (100) comprises a first internally hollow shaft (110), which is coated by an insulating and/or refractory material and a plurality of wheels (25) connected in stably fixed manner to an outermost surface (111) of the first shaft (110) to handle and support the load (50). According to the invention, the roll (100) also comprises a second shaft (120) arranged within an inner cavity of the first shaft (110) in position coaxial to the first shaft (110) and so as to define a gap (30) between the first shaft (110) and said second shaft (120). The roll (100) further comprises cooling water circulation means housed at least in part within said second shaft (120).

摘要: A refractory roll cover is described that reduces the amount of noxious dust during the production of glass sheet. The roll cover comprises a plurality of segments, including low dusting millboard segments mechanically supported by highly rigidized compressed fiber segments. The millboard segments are adapted to contact the glass sheet. The millboard is chosen so that any dust produced has little affinity for the glass sheet or is not easily fluidized by convective currents. The highly rigidized compressed fiber has a fused surface that releases little dust. The resultant roll cover substantially eliminates dusting while providing a mechanically superior roll cover.

摘要: Pulling rolls (13) for glass ribbons (11) are provided. The rolls include a shaft (17), a plurality of heat-resistant discs (15) mounted on the shaft in face-to-face contact, and a pair of fittings (25 or 25,31) affixed to the shaft which apply an axial compressive force to the discs. The axial compressive force gives the portions (27) of the roll surface (33) which contact the glass ribbon during use a Shore D hardness at room temperature of between 30 and 55. The rolls achieve a long service life without applying excessive force to the glass ribbon or generating high levels of particulate contamination.
