    摘要: A thread-cutting insert comprises opposite top and bottom sides as well as front and back sides, the front one of which is formed with a plurality of laterally spaced-apart teeth, which separately have a chip-removing edge in a transition between a clearance surface and a top surface of the individual tooth, one the of the teeth, viz. a final-shaping tooth, having a contour shape that gives the desired profile shape of the thread that is to be generated. At least one downwardly open duct is formed in the bottom side of the cutting insert, which duct extends up to the final-shaping tooth and ends adjacent to the same. Advantageously, such ducts are formed for all teeth.

    摘要: The invention concerns a process for the manufacture of a cutting insert (1) for thread cutting, with several cutting teeth (2-6) simultaneously engaged in incrementally cutting the thread profile. The blank is manufactured by pressing and sintering so that the relief angles of the flanks of the side cutting edges (9,10) of the individual teeth (2-6) are at least 3.degree. and the profile depth of the final cutting tooth (6) which makes the finishing cut on the thread fits within the required final measurement tolerances, while the thickness of the cutting insert (1) and the tooth width (b) of the cutting teeth (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) are oversized. Subsequently, the blank is mechanically processed on the back face (7) and/or the front face (8) until the tooth width (b) of the cutting teeth (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and the thickness (d) of the cutting insert (1) fit within the required final measurement tolerances.

    摘要: A thread cutting insert comprises a center portion and a plurality of cutting corners project outwardly from the center portion. Each cutting corner comprises a pair of outwardly converging cutting edges which are joined together by a curved tip. Each cutting corner includes a chipbreaking protrusion extending upwardly higher than the upper face of the center portion of the insert. The protrusion includes a front portion facing the tip, and a pair of upwardly converging sides. The front portion and sides are spacially confined to the cutting corner.
