Abstract:
A sheet feed device has a tray with holding surface for holding sheets, a feed unit for feeding sheets from the tray, and a separation plate. The separation plate has an inclined surface and two or more separation portions that separate a sheet from the sheets held in the tray. At least one of the separation portions projects a first distance from the inclined surface. The separation plate also has a projection positioned on the inclined surface that projects a second distance from the inclined surface. The second distance is greater than the first distance. A first of the separation portions is positioned upstream of the particular projection in the sheet feed direction, and a second of the separation portions positioned downstream of the particular projection in the sheet feed direction.
Abstract:
An image recording apparatus, including a sheet-supply tray device which accommodates and holds a plurality of recording sheets and which supplies the recording sheets, one by one, in a sheet-supply direction; and an image recording device which records an image on each of the recording sheets supplied from the sheet-supply tray device. The sheet-supply tray device includes a first tray which accommodates and holds at least one first sheet of the plurality of recording sheets; a second tray which accommodates and holds at least one second sheet of the plurality of recording sheets, and which selectively takes a stacked posture thereof in which the second tray is stacked on the first tray, and an opening posture thereof in which at least a portion of the second tray opens at least a portion of the first tray; and a supporting device which supports at least a portion of the second tray while permitting the second tray to selectively take the stacked posture thereof and the opening posture thereof such that the at least one second sheet held by the second tray is not plastically deformed.

Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: a sheet supplying unit that accommodates a sheet and has a bottom surface on which the sheet is placed and a supporting portion disposed above the bottom surface, the bottom surface having an auxiliary support unit; a transport unit that transports the sheet from the sheet supplying unit while turning over the sheet; and a recording unit that performs recording on the sheet transported by the transport unit. The auxiliary support unit is extendable and retractable with respect to the bottom surface along a traveling direction of the sheet and is capable of supporting the sheet transported from the recording unit in cooperation with the supporting portion.
Abstract:
A sheet conveying device includes a tray having a bottom surface. The tray holds at least one sheet therein, and has a recess formed in the bottom surface. A rotating member moves between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the rotating member contacts a sheet held in the tray, and in the second position, the rotating member is separated from the tray. The rotating member selectively rotates to convey a sheet held in the tray in a when the rotating member is in the first position. An operative portion moves in and out of the recess in the bottom surface of the tray, and movement of the operative portion corresponds to a movement of the rotating member into the second position.
Abstract:
An image recording apparatus includes a sheet-supply tray device, a sheet-supply roller and an image recording device. The sheet-supply tray device includes a first tray which accommodates a plurality of first recording media on a first tray surface thereof such that the first recording media are stacked on each other and a second tray which is placed on the first tray and which accommodates a plurality of second recording media on a second tray surface thereof such that the second recording media are stacked on each other. The second tray includes a base portion which is supported on the first tray and which constitutes a downstream tray surface that is a downstream side portion of the second tray surface in the sheet-supply direction, and a pivotable portion whose state is changeable between a stacked state in which the pivotable portion is supported on the first tray and an opening state in which the pivotable portion is pivoted relative to the base portion so as to open a space above the first tray and which constitutes an upstream tray surface that is an upstream side portion of the second tray surface in the sheet-supply direction. The pivotable portion includes a nip portion which constitutes a part of the upstream tray surface and which the sheet-supply roller advances toward and retracts from. In a state in which the pivotable portion is in the stacked state, at least one of (a) the nip portion and (b) a portion of the pivotable portion adjacent to the nip portion is supported by the base portion.

Abstract:
A recording medium feeder includes: a tray on which a plurality of recording medium are to be stacked; a feed roller that feeds the recording medium stacked on the tray; a first friction member provided on the tray and having high friction coefficient; and a second friction member provided on the tray at a position opposing the feed roller and having low friction coefficient that is lower than the friction coefficient of the first friction member, wherein the first friction member is configurable to be in one of positions of a protruded position in which a surface of the first friction member is protruded from a surface of the second friction member towards the feed roller and a retracted position in which the surface of the first friction member is arranged to be not higher than the surface of the second friction member.
