A sheet feed device has a tray with holding surface for holding sheets, a feed unit for feeding sheets from the tray, and a separation plate. The separation plate has an inclined surface and two or more separation portions that separate a sheet from the sheets held in the tray. At least one of the separation portions projects a first distance from the inclined surface. The separation plate also has a projection positioned on the inclined surface that projects a second distance from the inclined surface. The second distance is greater than the first distance. A first of the separation portions is positioned upstream of the particular projection in the sheet feed direction, and a second of the separation portions positioned downstream of the particular projection in the sheet feed direction.

A ticket dispenser for dispensing a ticket from a pack of tickets having first and last tickets at opposite ends of the pack and each ticket having opposed first and second edges, the ticket dispenser comprising: a ticket rack assembly having a rack with a support platform for receiving the pack of tickets with first edges against the support platform, and a ticket pack biasing mechanism configured to bias against a face of the last ticket of the C pack and to urge the last ticket towards the first ticket; a ticket housing for preventing unauthorised external access to the pack of tickets, the ticket housing comprising a ticket dispensing slot; and a ticket dispensing mechanism configured to dispense the first ticket from the pack of tickets, the ticket dispensing mechanism comprising a dispensing control member connected to a ticket ejector, the ticket ejector having a ticket edge engagement feature configured to engage with a first edge of the first ticket, the ticket ejector being operable by movement of the dispensing control member to slide the first ticket from the pack and away from the platform and to dispense the second edge of the first ticket through the ticket dispensing slot.

A media transport assembly includes a loadstop drive assembly to gather and compress a media stack in a media tray before a pick and feed cycle, and a pick drive assembly to pick a sheet of media from the media stack and feed the sheet of media to a media path. The loadstop drive assembly is positioned on one side of a gear wall and the pick drive assembly is positioned on an opposite side of the gear wall such that the pick drive assembly is driven by the loadstop drive assembly through the gear wall.

The device has a frame, at least one jogger, having a deployed active position for correcting a geometry of a folded blank, and a drive for transporting the jogger. The squaring-up device includes an effector for moving the jogger from the active position to a retracted inactive position, and vice versa, and control the effector.

The cover element may be movable between a closed position in which the leading edge is disposed at a first distance from the deck, and an open position in which the leading edge is disposed at a second greater distance from the deck. The leading edge may engage transported items having a thickness greater than the first distance to move the cover element out of the closed position. The item feeder further includes a controller for controlling the drive element, wherein the controller is configured to stop the drive element when the cover element is moved out of the closed position.

An apparatus transports a discrete paper or film object in a machine direction for insertion into an envelope. A guide assembly of the apparatus includes opposed first and second channels facing one another for guiding the object in the machine direction, with the channels extending upwardly to thereby define an uphill path of travel for the object. A drive apparatus includes engaging elements for moving the object along the first and second channels. At least one support element holds the object against the guide assembly.

A device is provided for feeding horizontally oriented packages or bags at a regular interval to a zipper profile attaching device. The loose packages or bags are placed onto a servo-driven lugged chain conveyor wherein the lugs are evenly spaced at the nominal desired center-to-center spacing of the packages or bags. The servo-driven lugged chain conveyor feeds the packages or bags to be captured between upper and lower secondary constant velocity conveyors. The lower secondary constant velocity conveyor includes an encoder which is used to slave the servo of the servo-driven lugged chain conveyor, with an adjustable programmable ratio. This achieves a consistent center-to-center distance of the horizontally oriented packages or bags which are then fed to a zipper profile attaching device.

A finger sweep for use with mail parcel handling systems includes an elongate mounting member for coupling the finger sweep to a drive shaft, and a parcel engaging member disposed on a distal end of the mounting member. In one embodiment, a pair of finger sweeps are coupled at first ends to a drive shaft such that parcel engaging members on their second ends extend in radially opposite directions. In another embodiment, an elongate mounting member is centrally attached to a drive shaft and parcel engaging members on its ends extend in radially opposite directions. The parcel engaging members are formed from polymeric material and may be removably fastened to the mounting member, or formed directly thereon.
